VIDEO: Late Kick: Texas' defensive line will be a force to be reckoned with this season

Texas wrapped up the second scrimmage of fall camp around noon on Saturday. That leaves next Saturday’s mock game as the last weekend mile marker before kicking off the 2023 season against Rice at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Sept. 2.

The second scrimmage under Steve Sarkisian in previous years has proven to be more of a slow trickle of sourced information. That's different from the first scrimmage, one where we had 90 percent of our notes checked by multiple parties in attendance only a few hours after the players left the field.

This year is no different, but here are a few nuggets to whet the appetite as we continue to gather more information.

— The early word from a source is that similar to last week’s scrimmage, Texas didn’t suffer any major injuries. It’s worth noting this is only one source and there are some players who are some degree of banged up at the moment, but to have no there significant injuries at this stage of fall camp is encouraging, to say the least.

We should have a clearer picture of the player’s health status moving forward after tomorrow’s recovery and rehab sessions.

— We asked about who looked better between the offense and defense today and Pete Kwiatkowski’s group got the nod according to multiple sources. The defensive line and edge groups in particular earned a lot of praise and Alfred Collins’ name has been consistently mentioned all throughout camp as one of the best players on the roster.
