The food was good, service great and fast, cocktails excellent. Worth every penny. Great atmosphere.
This was my first time at an On the Border and I went for lunch during the workday. Our server was friendly friendly and quick, offering refills frequently. The food came fast and tasted great. Knowing that it was part of a chain I was...pleasantly surprised by the quality of food.More
My family and I were in Florida in December and ordered to go and did not get what we paid for! We ordered beef fajitas and received chicken and no guacamole, sour cream, or tortillas! Also, my quesadillas did not have much meat or cheese-...mainly tortilla. Finally the enchiladas were horrible. My daughter had one bite and threw them away. I contacted the manager and he was not empathetic at all. Save your money! Not worth it.More
Horrible beyond words! 15 minutes for the host to even acknowledge you are there , while just standing there somewhere and just staring at us before walking up to seat us. No waiter shows up for 15 minutes and 25 minutes not even a glass...of water served yet. We showed up to support this restaurant when we had choices of chilli's and Uncle Julios!! Our Bad I guess !More
Ordered Mexican Grilled chicken - it had gone spoilt and smelled horrible ! The queso fondido was really burnt . We had a very bad experience and we sent it back to the kitchen We asked for the manager , after 5 mins since it...was 2 out of 4 dishes were really bad . The manager gets on a soap box and lectures us that we were supposed to ask for him immediately when there is a problem with the order , next time as if informing the waiter was a mistake . To our shock, he did not take responsibility for the chicken , as it was "processed chicken " . Will never again even think about visiting this place . He refunded the money for both the dishes but completely ruined the experience . Kitchen needs a health inspection if they can serve spoilt food and try to get away with it ..More
We used to come to this place almost every week for good guacamole, chips, salsa, and, most importantly, margarita. This was our fist time back after the pandemic and here we ran into some horrible service. The manager was very mean to us, treated us...poorly in from of other customers. I will take it up to the corporate level.More
This place is not what it used to be. The chips and salsa were delicious. I ordered the Grand Taco Salad. I am allergic to dairy and asked for no cheese or sour cream. It was supposed to come with guacamole. There was none. So...I asked the waiter (it took a while to get him back) if my salad was supposed to have guacamole, he said, "Yes but there is a shortage of avocados in Mexico." I had noticed a placard at the hostess stand advising that extra guacamole might not be available. I pointed out that this was a listed ingredient on the menu for this salad. He said, "Well, a month ago a case of avocados cost $30, now it costs $125." I said you've got to be kidding me? He went and got a small tin of guacamole with great aplomb. What a rip off. Given all the things I had to leave off my salad due to allergies, they're going to eliminate another ingredient and not even mention it? Not ever going back and this server was incompetent. I don't need a rundown on the state of avocado crops across the globe. If it's listed on the menu as an ingredient, you need to provide it or tell me about it and discount the meal accordingly. As an aside, the floor on the way to the ladies room was filthy. It was not a crowded Saturday night. It was 12:30 and there were 2 other booths that were occupied. The rest of the restaurant was empty.More
Nice patio and great servers and ice cold beer! We did not eat dinner but the chips were best I've ever had!
Went for lunch on a weekday and found the service to be good but the food rather bland. Menu items seemed more exciting a decade ago. I am not inclined to go back.
On a beautiful Friday afternoon we were hoping for lunch on the deck. Unfortunately, it was full. Once inside our frozen Margaritas were brought quickly as well as the guacamole live with endless chips bowl. We ordered fajitas and the lunch quesadillas special. All the...food was terrific. The attention to detail by our server Mauricio was incredible. He should train servers so everyone has such a pleasant experience. Excellent meal and we will return again soon.More
Last time I'd enjoyed the vegetable fajitas. Those weren't on the menu when I went for lunch this time so I ordered the veggie tacos. It was awful. Greasy! and not in a good way. I ended up pulling the small amount of veggies out...of the shell to eat them and not eating the soggy shell. I had seconds on the chips and salsa so I wasn't starving when I left.More
Enjoyed a wonderful meal @ On the Border Vernon Hills yesterday; & really love their new look. What an improvement in the decor! Long overdue!
Hadn't eaten at OTB before. Went on Tuesday and apparently it was half-priced drinks night. Don't know if that's a regular thing or not but we liked it! After drinks and chips with salsa and guacamole we ate dinner. Had the vegetable fajitas without the...cheese and sour cream. It was filling and tasty--couldn't finish it. I would order this again.More
Whenever you are feeling like Mexican this is the place that you would want to go. The food there is authentic, yet is still good quality and every dish bursts with different zesty, flavor. It's one of my favorite hometown restaurants and whenever we have...family visit from out of town they always want to go here. Lots of choices to choose from that are all worth trying!More
