HotNewHipHop.com is unlike any other online publication. With a cult-like and vocal readership, we work at a lightning-fast pace, to stay one step ahead of the news cycle and ensure we provide accurate, timely, and engaging stories across a variety of different verticals under the Pop Culture umbrella: from Hip-Hop and R&B music to sports, to sneakers, to movies and TV, and more.

We are seeking a Content Writer who is already entrenched in all things hip-hop: old school, new artists, latest songs, and diss tracks, all of it! This person should be extremely familiar with a variety of social media channels as sources for news, alongside major publications– the ideal candidate already checks these sources daily.

You will be asked to be asked to write 5 to 10 evergreen articles every week (lists, top 5s, timelines, etc.).

This is a freelance role that is compensated on a per-piece basis.

Responsibilities

· Research the assigned topics and targeted keywords before drafting an article.

· Write articles that are between 500 & 800 words adhering to our style and SEO guides.

· Provide links to Instagram or X posts that compliment your article and increase engagement.

· Stay up to date with current hip-hop events and breaking news.

· At least 1 year working experience in any editorial setting.

· You have an in-depth knowledge of hip-hop music.

· Your writing is clear, concise, and engaging, and requires very little editing.

· You take direction well, always implement feedback, and have strong time management skills.

· Previous experience working with WordPress and Yoast SEO.

Please include your latest resume and 2 writing samples (if available) with your application. To be considered for this role, you will be asked to draft 1 mockup article so we can gauge your hip-hop knowledge and writing skills/speed.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
