[WWE NXT Spoilers] Appreciation post for main event competitor [WWE NXT Spoilers] Appreciation post for main event competitor

Now that his NXT title reign, and most likely his NXT run as a whole, is over, I wanted to give a shout out to Ilja Dragunov. His body of work over the past 15 months has been incredible. He consistently made his opponents look great and elevated everyone he worked with to another level. Through all of it I don't think there can be any doubt that Ilja Dragunov has solidified himself as not only one of the best wrestlers in WWE, but in the world period.

I can't wait to see what the Mad Dragon achieves on the main roster.

Which instance of a champion relinquishing their title was the most heartbreaking to you? Which instance of a champion relinquishing their title was the most heartbreaking to you?

Just a week ago, Rhea Ripley had to vacate her World Championship. Say what you will about the quality of her feuds as champion, but it always sucks to see a long title reign end in such a manner.

Personally, when Bálor had to relinquish the Universal Championship in 2016, just one day after having been crowned was really crushing. I'd been following his career since his NJPW days and his NXT run was great. Then, he got called up, beat Roman clean, had a great match against Seth, and everything seemed to go well, like nobody coming from NXT had been pushed so fast to the top, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. Not even one title defense. Nothing. Even worse because he never got back to that same level of main event push, although I still hold hope now that he's re-signed.

What about you?
