WWE NXT Preview For 04-13-2021: Tuesday Night Debut Sees New Champs Speak, The Way Enter Eight Person Tag Team War, And More!

Last week saw the end of the Wednesday Night Wars, as NXT settled into a new timeslot on Tuesday night instead. They ended with a bang however, bringing Night One of NXT Takeover instead of a normal episode, and what a two night event that was. We have three new champions in Karrion Kross, Raquel Gonzalez, and MSK. We’ll hear from Kross & Gonzalez on tonight’s show, MSK have a tag team title defense, The Way unite against their biggest current foes, and so much more. Let’s break down what to expect from NXT tonight!

The Way Take On Dexter Lumis, Bronson Reed, Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon

You don’t often see eight person tag team matches in WWE, let alone with both male & female competitors in the ranks. The Way will all be involved tonight, as Johnny Gargano, Austin Theory, Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae take on Dexter Lumis, Bronson Reed, Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon.

Lots of history at play in this one, as Reed just failed to take the NXT North American Championship from Gargano, LeRae & Hartwell failed to beat Blackheart & Moon, Theory was kidnapped by Lumis, and also Hartwell has a crush on Lumis. This one is gonna be unique, to say the least.

Santos Escobar To Hold An Open Challenge For His Undisputed Cruiserweight Championship

On Night Two of NXT Takeover, Santos Escobar sent Jordan Devlin back to Ireland without his NXT Cruiserweight Championship after a brutal ladder match. Now the undisputed Cruiserweight Champion, Escobar needs to focus on proving that he belongs on top of this division.

Easiest way is to show this is to defend the title, so tonight he lays down an open challenge to anyone under 205lbs. We’ve seen names come back to NXT from RAW & Smackdown for open challengers before, so this could truly be anyone. Former champions like Cedric Alexander & Buddy Murphy aren’t too busy, so they’re options for who shows up tonight, but there are many names in this pool.

MSK Defend NXT Tag Team Championships Against Killian Dain & Drake Maverick

On night one of Takeover, MSK defeated Grizzled Young Veterans & Legado Del Fantasma to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions. They already have their first defense, after Killian Dain & Drake Maverick defeated Breezango to earn this shot. Dain & Maverick are an odd team, but if MSK overlook them, their reign could be among the shortest in NXT history.

Also announced for tonight is the debut of Franky Monet, the former Taya Valkyrie of Impact Wrestling & AAA. Leon Ruff has Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott in a grudge match. What are you most excited for tonight on NXT? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
