I'm super glad this album was well recieved and that Kevin Parker has the audience he has. He's an awesome dude making awesome music.

That being said, personally I was really let down by currents. As a fan of psych rock I feel like Parker's vibe just really took a left turn out of neo psychedelic and into pop and the new stuff just doesn't do it for me as much. Seems like his latest album is going to be more in the pop vein as well judging by the recent single.

Like I said, I don't think the newer stuff is bad music and I'm happy it's well recieved. Sometimes artists just evolve and you don't evolve with them. I just find myself excitedly waiting for new stuff by bands like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Thee Oh Sees and not so much Tame Impala anymore. I wonder if there are any other former huge fans out there who feel the same.

I'll probably still buy the new album hoping to find a jam or two though.

Yeah same. And honestly it's not even really a genre thing. I like pop, and synthwave. I mean hell, King Gizz changes genre with pretty much every album they put out, neo-psych, jazz, folk, eastern fusion, etc... and I love everything they've ever done.

Honestly Parker's newer stuff just sounds bland and unmemorable to me. I won't call it bad because it's just my opinion, and it's clear that he's an artist. I don't like calling art bad just because I don't get it. But, I just don't like it.
