Documentary on the making of the 2019 movie.
It's amazing to see how much hard work and dedication that went into the making of Hellboy (2019), how detailed it was and how much went into the production, to see the unsatisfying outcome that was Hellboy.
Tales of the Wild Hunt: Hellboy Reborn is directed by Charles de Lauzirika and stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane, Mike Mignola, and Ian McShane.
A documentary on the making of the Hellboy reboot in 2019 directed by Neil Marshall.
I'm a huge fan of the Hellboy reboot! I love everything about it and I think it's one of the most underrated movies of all time. I wanted to know the process of making this movie and how everyone felt about working on a project like Hellboy. This documentary is all about that. Going into detail from both the cast and crew on how this reboot came together and getting to see a lot of the behind the scenes.…
Watching this you can see all the work and dedication put into this film, but I just don't get it. Everyone, especially Mike Mignola, seem to think that this movie is the most faithful film ever. Yes it's actual stories from the comics, but it's all so wrong. So much stuff is jam-packed into this film. Too many locations, too many characters, too many backstories. Maybe if it was longer it would work (which i do know the editors tore this film apart), but i highly doubt it. I mean how do you start a franchise with what is essentially the ending story of the franchise? I know it's not the true ending, but I mean what is supposed to…
Just a documentary. The goddess Milla talks a bit in the beginning and doesn't show up again till about 20 mins in.
She's talks for about 8 mins and doesn't speak for the rest of the documentary again.
Not a bad documentary.
Just finished watching this making-of documentary for the 2019 Hellboy film and while I'm a little surprised (but also not totally surprised) that there's not a single clip of Neil Marshall talking about the film here, I was more taken aback seeing Hellboy creator (and the guy that single-handedly kept Scott Allie employed at Dark Horse where he repeatedly assaulted the company's employees for a decade), Mike Mignola, in the 2 minutes he's on screen, talking some smack about the del Toro films.
I mean...
This movie just doesn't know when/how to stop digging the hole that it's in.
Really wanted to like this but hearing the actors go on and on about how different this film is and how the make-up artist decided that put hair on Hellboy was "original". I have seen so much better from the guy who made this.
I mean , I'm a sucker for behind the scenes shit and find them veeeeery intersting . In fact , now that I saw hiw the film was made , I hate hellboy 2019 less ...
Hey hey hey , this is my 100th review ! So , thank you for sticking along and liking my reviews , I really appreciate it :) !
Shows how much went into the 2019 misfire. The more gothic-horror tone fits but it’s easy to see how this wouldn’t hold a candle to Del Toro’s films.
Grade: B-
2019 • Hellboy • BTS • Overlooked • Spooky
Advertised as a "feature length documentary" when in reality it's a roughly cut together EPK thing that would on any other disc be cut into a bunch of 5 minute videos. The whole thing is there to downplay the behind-the-scenes drama that affected every element of production. And the producers sit there acting like nothing bad happened with shit eating grins. The editing is so bad that the section about Neil Marshall that Lionsgate clearly felt obliged to add (nothing wrong here) is only two minutes at the very end, where it has no business being.
Disgusting.
