Mango Tree is an upscale Thai restaurant chain originally from Bangkok. This branch is at a popular shopping mall. Decor is tropical. Food is the Thai staple in a refined presentation. Satay is succulent. Beef short rib in green curry is the highlight. The meat is fatty and savory with a rich, creamy curry sauce. Seafood fried rice is tasty. Service is courteous and price pretty reasonable. Reservation is essential especially for weekends.

This Thai restaurant has several outlets, and today we went to the one in Cityplaza. We had tried this restaurant in Bangkok many years back and got some good memories. Franchised to the 1957 & Co. in HK, even though it was still early evening when we arrived, there were quite many people seated already. We were seated at a round table at the corner so able to enjoy some space. The decor is neat and unsophisticated, bringing some familiar Thai culture to the customers using plenty of wood and bamboo. I like the mosaic tiles on the floor which gives a chic ambience. We ordered the Set Menu for Two ($438). The Appetizer Platter contained two pieces of deep-fried shrimp cakes, char-grilled chicken and beef satay, and pomelo salad with whitebait. Decent in taste and while they were not the best, all of the food certainly met our expectation. Among them I like the satay the most, with the meat marinated well and grilled nicely. For the main course there were three choices, and we opted for Northern Thai Barbequed Spring Chicken. This is my favorite among the dishes in the evening, with the chicken nicely grilled with a glaze of pepper and honey, delicious and the meat was also not dried up, retaining nice juicy texture. The side dish of the papaya salad is also good, with a spicy kick to stimulate the palate, and the sauce further added complexity in flavors. As we were quite full from our big lunch on the day, we decided to have the Belachan Kale instead of rice or noodle. Rich and intense in flavors, the kale is young and tender, and the belachan sauce added a wonderful savory fragrance and taste. The Dessert Platter contained black and white sticky rice with mango, pandan layer cake, and coconut sago pudding. Obviously the mango is not in the best season so we did not have high expectation, still it is decent in sweetness. Similar to the appetizer, the desserts are not bad, though nothing that I would call outstanding. Service is fair, and the restaurant is almost full so the staff was quite busy throughout. The bill was $514 which is very reasonable and in general I would say it is quite good in value. Knowing that they do have an outlet in Elements which target a more top-notch experience, maybe it would be good to try that out in future.

Nice presentation and swift delivery, but pricey for what you pay. $118 for prawn pad thai with just 2 prawns? the pad thai was nice though. And $62 for the smallest mango sticky pudding I've ever seen, but the mango was fresh and overall the dessert was lovely.

It’s “Tree”, not “Tee” Dropped by for a late lunch and surprisingly the service is ok by hong kong standards. Typical thai food, though my pad thai strangely used vermicelli instead of flat noodles

We had a nice lunch here, there was a good choice of dishes for the set lunch. The food was quick and fresh, and was nicely presented and tasty too. A big queue built up outside once the main lunch hour started, but the staff did not rush us at all. Convenient location too, inside the main shopping centre at Tai Koo.

A returning customer from Melbourne who is looking for a quiet place for a bite in late noon. A Thai seafood noodle and a grill is sufficient for two. We do not ask for too much when the bill is just over HK$200. The food is tasty and decor peaceful. Will return again while in Hong Kong.

We saw the name on the directory at the mall and having been to other Mango Trees around the world, we were interested in what the Mango Tree cafe would offer. I won’t hum on about the seating or the service, as these are what you’d more or less expect from a cafe in the mall, I wasn’t looking for fine dining after all. The food definitely missed the mark for us. The coconut chicken soup was watery, bland and just plain tasteless, I had to ask for salt, but that barely helped. The green curry was ok. Can’t complain too much, but we’ve had better. The savings grace was their morning glory, actually pretty good, but the seafood fried rice left my boyfriend, who is half Thai, extremely dissatisfied. Honestly expected more from an internationally known brand.

Was in the mall for a walk and happened upon this place and it was early in the evening so we got a seat. Otherwise, from the crowd we saw, it would be better to book a reservation. The place has a good set of dishes that are genuinely thai with a nice dose of western fusion like steaks and pork ribs. We had the set meal which was an appetizer, 2 main dishes and 2 desserts and all were good helping and equally delicious. Highly recommended and the only complaint was that the service was a bit slow and the food took awhile to arrive. We already finished 2 dishes before our stir fried noodles came out but other than that, would be coming back to try other dishes.

The café provides traditional Thai cuisine but cooked and presented in western style. There is a wide choice of delicious items in reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and helpful. Watch for their promotional items at different times.

Tried the branches at CWB & Element before so has a high expectation of this one as well. The weekend lunch set has a variety of food from starter to main & a choice of noodles or rice plus 2 drinks for two with a very reasonable price of less than $300. Tried the grilled octopus salad, grilled ribs & fried vermicelli with chicken. Overall food is awesome & the staffs are polite & attentive!

Not sure if it belongs to the well-known Mango Tree chain restaurants; however, it really worth a visit! It's more like a fusion Thai restaurant rather than a traditional one which is quite interesting. A wide variety of food options is offered at this restaurant. However, as the first time, we'd only tried couple traditional dishes: phad thai (not bad), pork skewers (nice & juicy) and baked prawns w/ butter & garlic (very tasty).

Went there for dinner with friends earlier this week. We tried to book table (3 pax) a week in advance and they said no seating for reservation left. We thought wow ,it has to be good then. Went there at 6:30 pm and thinking to try our luck to get a table,it was so quiet and we made it.....they were not filled with half capacity during the two hours we stayed there!!!!!! Then we understood why. The food was so so blend and greasy. They can't even do a simple stir fry vegetable right. The pomelo salad was like a sad plate of pomelo pieces with few garnish in it,lacking dressing and other ingredients.the baked pork chop rice was okay but sadly, the one in chain restaurants would taste better than that....we also had some skewers and wings etc. We don't like to waste food and to be honest,we did not expect much when we eat in locals.however,we could not finish any of the dish at the end. On top of food quality, their service ain't good either.sorry to say that a chain restaurant would do a better job than them! Price wise,it would be cheap enough (for $ range in this local mall) if you go for set menu. It costs us hk$200 each for the meal. Small $ but i think it's not worthy! Another disappointing experience in the locals. Looks like the curse of "no nice food" around the neighbourhood still exists after they tried to re-furnished the mall.awww
