I loved that there was so much to do at Tahoma, there are so many clubs to choose from and you could even easily create your own if you wanted to. However, I didn't like that there is such a focus on knowing exactly what you want to do later in life that it stresses out the students and can make the school's academics seem way more daunting. It is a more challenging school so many students give up because it seems to daunting.
I transferred to Tahoma High School after attending in the Kent School District. I feel safer, and certainly more cared about. The educational environment is much more positive and geared toward being college ready.
The best part of my experience was the teachers and other faculty at the school that made me feel like doing my best was enough and were always there to support me over the years I attended this school. Most the time I felt like I could do whatever I wanted because these teachers made me believe that. The worst part of my experience would be going online during the covid pandemic because it got more challenging to balance school when all I wanted to do was lay in bed. I don't know what I would like to see change, but I know that I would like the environment of having supportive teachers to stay the same. I feel that having teachers who will support their students and who genuinely want to see them succeed and reach their goals is very important to the high school experience and can help students succeed.
