T-Mobile’s Stateside International Talk add-on allows you to call over 70 countries worldwide for just $15/month. If you frequently make international calls, you may want to consider adding on this T-Mobile feature so that you don’t have to worry about racking up exorbitant international calling fees.

We'll walk you through each of T-Mobile's international calling options, as well as the calling rates for multiple countries, should you choose to pay per use.

Stateside International Talk and Text

T-Mobile's international calling $15 add-on gives you unlimited calls to landlines in over 70 countries, as well as unlimited calls to mobile devices in over 30 countries. You'll also get unlimited international texts and discounted calls to more than 200 destinations.

While many of T-Mobile's best plans include limited international calling and texting features, its Stateside International Talk and Text feature tacks on additional functionality.

Depending upon where you need to call, you’ll either get unlimited minutes with the State International Talk and Text add-on, or you’ll get a heavily discounted rate to the tune of $.05-$0.20 cents per minute. For example, you would get unlimited calls to Belgium with the add-on but calls to Australia will cost you $0.07 cents per minute.

Bottom line: Get international calling for cheaper

You can save on your domestic phone bill and on international calling by joining a T-Mobile MVNO like Mint Mobile. Many people don't realize these smaller carriers offer the exact same coverage as you would get from a T-Mobile plan and similar international calling rates. How to add Stateside International Talk to your T-Mobile plan

To manage T-Mobile add-ons like Stateside International Talk, here’s what you want to do:

On the T-Mobile app

Open your app and tap Account.
Tap the picture of the phone.
Tap Add-ons.
Tap Manage Data & Add-ons.
Find Stateside International Talk.

On T-Mobile.com

Go to T-Mobile.com and log in to the primary account holder’s account.
Click Account (found near the top of the page).
Click your wireless plan.
Navigate to the Shared Add-on section and click Manage add-ons.
Add State International Talk.

Is the Stateside add-on worth it?

The Stateside add-on only makes sense if you know you’ll be making frequent calls out of the country. If you know you’ll be calling a loved one in Australia, for example, this add-on could save you quite a bit of money.

Let’s say you decide to call your brother in Australia without the Stateside Add-on. You chat for 30 minutes and when your wireless bill comes around, you’ll find you spent a whopping $90 on that call to Australia! On the other hand, if you have the T-Mobile Stateside add-on, that 30-minute call will only cost you $2.10. If you’re making calls internationally, you will save money with the Stateside add-on.

Mobile Without Borders

T-Mobile’s Mobile Without Borders program gives its users unlimited talk and text between United States, Canada, and Mexico, along with 5GB of data to use while traveling in Canada or Mexico. You get all of that for free if you have the Magenta Plan or Magenta Plus Plan. It will cost you $25/month for the add-on. That extra benefit alone might be enough for some people to go with one of the Magenta plans.

International Calling Rates: Mobile and Landline

Here are all the international rates you can expect on T-Mobile. For context, the first column is what you would pay per minute without the $15 Stateside International add-on. Recently, T-Mobile has made the $3.00/minute charge uniform for essentially every country, so expect to pay that if calling internationally.

On the second column, you can see that you get unlimited texts to 210+ international countries if you’re on the Essentials, Magenta, or Magenta Plus Plan. In the third column, you’ll see that calls to landlines in these countries are included in the add-on. In the last column, you’ll see the price you would pay per minute to make a call to that country with the Stateside International add-on.
