The Opera House was even more breathtaking in person! We loved the guided tour to learn about its history and design. A must-see in Sydney!

We took photos on the side of the Gardens that is on the way to the Mrs. macquaries's Chair.
That was an ideal spot! But you can also do the other side as it is less crowded there. Anyway this spot is iconic for a Sydney trip so don't miss it.

These are so easy to use, relatively inexpensive and an unusual way to see Sydney and surrounding towns. Why take the train to Parramatta when you can see the scenery on the ferry? Or take the ferry to Milsons Point and wander the marina, visit a secret garden, check out an old amusement park, etc.

The gardens are great. I walked around on my own discovering the flowers, plants and trees from all over the world that are showcased with an emphasis on Australian and south Pacific greenery. There are so many areas to see that focus on a certain type of garden (rock, cactus, palms, rose, etc). I also enjoyed the harbor front area so sat on a bench and was content people watching and listening to the water and the birds. A helpful hint: there are plenty of toilets throughout the gardens and two restaurants.

Word of warning: I was looking forward to the free 90 minute walking tour of the gardens but unfortunately it was not great. Led by volunteers, the route and quality of the tour very much de
