Swiss Army Man + Lars and the Real Girl
Ok I googled to see if this was already a thing on Reddit, but didn’t see it. I’m super late, but just watched Lars and the Real Girl and it reminded me so much of Swiss Army Man (also super late to that movie). And honestly Ryan Gosling’s performance also reminded me of Barbie (which he was the BEST part of), and also of Blade Runner 2049 (which I also loved.) (To be honest I disliked him in all other movies I’ve seen.)
I really liked how both these movies were wholesome, while still being about dysfunctional characters. I loved the community support for Lars, and I loved the authentic relationships and absurdity in both.
Some of us see these great movies way too late but still love and appreciate them so please forgive me. (Any other recommendations would be awesome!)
I thought Lars and the Real Girl was a good movie, too. The subject is even more relevant today and it holds up pretty well. Nice to see an example of helpful people vs fighting and to see Lars heal over time.
To be honest I disliked him in all other movies I’ve seen.
Even The Nice Guys? If you're late to that one too then its definitely recommended
Haven’t seen that one but I’ll put it on the list :)
Enjoy, that one is among my favorites over the last decade or so. You won't be disappointed
You don’t like him in Drive or Place Beyond the Pines or Only God Forgives?!
Apparently I need to watch more Ryan Gosling movies! 😂
Yes! I’m all about Gosling. I saw someone suggest the nice guys so I didn’t put it. But he’s great in that too.
