Recommend, especially for NOLA first timers.
Bob and Stacey were amazing. The commentary from Bob throughout the trip was funny, informative, and real. It was especially powerful when he discussed the conditions of slavery and working in the sugar cane industry as we were passing through the sugar cane fields. I thought the plantation tour glanced over the slavery aspect and focused a lot on the owners, which we expected. The swamp tour was fun, we got to hold a baby alligator and our capitan, Brandon, was hilarious. Great tour for first timers to NOLA, tourisy, but not too cheesy. Overally, our group was polite and respectful, and surprisingly diverse heh. I highly recommend the tour. Thanks Bob. and Stacey!

Good Time Away From Loud City
The tour was good and comfortable minus the bumpy bus ride there. Guide explained things well and was comical at times. Got to see a decent amount of gators plus 1 larger scaled gator.

      We loved it!
The tour is great. It is perfect if you don't have a car and want to see outside Nola. Our guide was incredible, Robert was funny and professional and he told us everything we needed to know about the city, its culture and its history. It a very educational experience without being boring at all! I definitely recommend it!

Excellent and informative commentary from Charles on the bus ride out to the plantation. Very relaxing day and no stress. The swamp boat ride was fantastic make sure to ask to go with Tom he is amazing, also lots of wildlife on the swamp and a very easy ride back on the bus. Highly recommend this trip for families and especially the swamp boat ride if you have children.

      Great With Exception to Photographers
I’ve used Grayline before in different countries and had awesome experiences, so I booked this day tour. The day went well with exception to the photographers that boarded the bus and were introduced to everyone as photographers, so I’m assuming they are affiliated with Grayline. During the swamp tour, I kept getting bumped by the photographers, surrounded by them when they were taking photos; and several times I noticed they were taking pictures and videos of us. I really wish I knew about this as I do not want pictures of myself being used for marketing material. With exception to the photographers, the day went well and was fun, I just wish I booked another day.

      Very Informative, Beautiful, and Fun
It started off with a bus tour of the city, taking you out to the plantation. Our tour guide was born and raised in New Orleans and had lots of interesting information. Many jokes and insider secrets about the city. The plantation tour guides were very kind and helpful. The land was beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The plantation was well organized and had lots to do. The transition from the city, the plantation, the bus, and then the swamp tour was actually very smooth. The swamp tour was educational in a manner I hadn't expected. There were many twists to this tour that took me by a pleasant surprise. I'd love to go on, but I believe you should see for yourself to have the wonderful experience I had.

      Great Day Out
This was great day out and a great way to unwind and get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. The tour guide on the bus Early was excellent keeping people engaged and entertained without getting too heavy. Pointing out places of interest along the way while giving a great broad history of New Orleans and the surrounding area . The Oak Alley Plantation was great 2.5 hours sounds like alot but we could have done with more time. The talk give by the guy (sorry I can't remember his name) was not to miss. A little dark and some unpleasant truths but delivered with skill and obvious passion for the subject, he pulled no punches and hung around to discuss further when he was finished . The Plantation itself was beautiful the gardens the Alley and the house itself . The tour of the house was good but very much overshadowed by the slavery talk. The Swamp tour was a great way to finish up the day. Lots of Alligators Turtls Racoons Squirrels Birds Pigs Snakes and Fish to see. Easing along the bayou in conopy covered boat in the warm afternoon was great. Captain Dustin was fun and engaging all along the tour and you even get to handle a baby gator if that's your thing. This was money well spent for me and my mother and we would definitely recommend

      Wonderful Plantation and Swamp Tour!
This tour of Oak Alley Plantation and swamp tour was great! Bob S. was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge of New Orleans history. He was funny and entertaining and helped make the tour a success. Our driver, Stacy, was a beast behind the wheel of the charter bus and got us safely to and from the tour. 5 stars all around!

      New Orleans City Tour
We took the Gray Line city tour. Our tour guide was Lesley and driver was Duane. Lesley was very knowledgeable about the area and was pleasant to listen to. Stops at City Park, Garden District and the cemetery provided nice intervals to move around and see things outside of the bus. We felt like we learned quite a lot about the area. Duane was very skilled in managing the bus through the city.

First let me say Oak Alley Plantation was wonderful. Learned when we got there the admission to the plantation was only $25! So that means the bus ride is $44 per person. Before taking off on the bus ride one person in our party of 6 went to the driver to let him know the A/C wasn’t working. His exact words were “it is what it is, it will get better when we start moving”. It was 78 outside and the meeting time was noon. The full bus was getting very hot quickly. The 70 minutes there were bad but not nearly as bad as coming back. It was miserable with just a slight “sorry it’s hot, we didn’t check the A/C on the bus before we left today”. The 2nd line of the inclusions on this tour is a vehicle with A/C. So we as a group paid $264 to ride 2 hours sweating miserably. It did not make for a good trip, kinda ruined it. Then let’s talk about the 2 hours allotted there... it was not busy but the time we had to wait in line to tour the Big House left us with only 15 mins to walk the remainder of the plantation. Suggestion- check for A/C if that is a selling point for your tour and give people enough time to actually get their money’s worth touring the plantation. Oh and if you can’t provide A/C offer a partial refund and maybe check into the A/C if someone brings it up before you embark on a 2 hour trip.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would! I have NEVER left a review before but felt like I should considering this may save other people money in the future. I was very unhappy that the drive to the actual plantation was over an hour away...when we finally arrived, I saw visitors who had driven there themselves and parked for free. They only had to pay $25 per adult & $10 for students 18 and under to enter the plantation and could spend as much time as they wanted there. Whereas, we were limited to only 2 hours & had to pay in advance to gray line tours $69 for adults & $35 for kids 12 and under...since one of our daughters was 15 years old, she was considered an adult and paid a total of $242 for this tour instead of driving ourselves there and only paying $67!!!!! THIS is a total ripoff! I would advise anyone who is considering these tours, to call the actual plantation websites themselves.

The place is so beautiful. A great example of the "upper crust" plantation owners. Love all the Oaks and especially liked the brief talk a young lady gave about them, their history and how they were transplanted here. EVERY person there could answer any question we asked - and all were genuinely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

The property is beautiful and very well-maintained. It's definitely worth visiting. The actual house tour was less than we expected for the price we paid. Admission to the property with the tour is only $28 per person, but this tour is considerably more. We love visiting historic sites and have been on numerous tours, but this tour guide was a little dry and sounded too scripted. The bus portion of the trip was the most uncomfortable part. The temperature in the bus was like a refrigerator. All of the passengers had their vents closed and it was still freezing. The driver played videos which we enjoyed, rather than having to listen to him try to fill an hour of travel time. He did provide information about plantations along the river road. When we arrived, we expected to be given our tickets and sent on our way, but instead received an unnecessary overview while standing in front of the map of the plantation where we were all encouraged to take copies of the same map. This was time we could have used to wander around the site. We couldn't leave before he finished, because he didn't give out the tour tickets until he said his piece.

Our tour guide was exceptional. The plantation everything I thought it would be . There were a few bumps with Grayline however. A few of the customers were late arriving so we left 12 minutes late. the bus next to us took on more customers than the bus would hold, so our bus took the customers which were going to a different plantation. Our bus dropped them off, taking additional time. Then when we arrived at our destination there was an issue and we waited additional time for our tickets. There was a total of 35-40 minutes time lost that cut into the time at the site. Our bus also had to pick up the other folks that they dropped off and were 10 minutes late picking us up, which if we had known would have given us additional time to explore . There was a wait to get into the home of 40-45 minutes, so rather than being able to explore the grounds time was spent in line. We paid 268.00 for 4 of us , with not enough time at the site to get a real experience... not good business process.

There is so much I want to say about the tour. The grounds is really nice and well kept up, the bar on the way out is really good but the tour needs help!

They have a slave quarters that doesn’t have a guide you just read what is on signs. When you go into the plantation house there is a whole tour about the family that owned the plantation and the family that came after them. The tour made these people seem like they were royalty for owning slaves and that is not the case. Our tour guide ended our tour with “we wouldn’t be here today without this family.” No! We wouldn’t be here without black Africans and African Americans who died catering to white people to make them wealthy.

There was no live story telling about the slaves and how they lived or work you just had to read it. Why is the most important part of the tour is not viewed as important. There Should be a tour of the slaves quarters every 15 mins like there is of the plantation house!

The grounds were great and served as a nice memorial to the slaves that built and ran the property. However the house tour was a bit underwhelming. I've seen some incredible homes in Louisiana refurbished to their former astetic. I was excited to see this one as it was the largest home I've seen. You don't get a tour of the whole house (the third floor is completely blocked off) and you have serious restrictions on which rooms you can enter. The refurbishing effort by the current owners could be improved. The old spiral staircase was removed and replaced with a straight one by a former owner, why don't they rebuild the spiral staircase? I'm sure it would add so much the experience.

I'd really like to come back if further work is done on the house and more of the rooms are opened up. Some aspects were great, such as the beautiful views on the second floor balcony.

If you're looking for a great home to tour I highly recommend the Gallier home in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

While we do not run the house or any of the attraction, we can share this with the non-profit that attend to it. You might want to reach out to them with your suggestions.

The actual tour was pretty good. The guide, Shannon, was very informative about the history of the house and the family who owned it. However, the tour of the house was very crowded and I felt like there was more information about the house and family that I wanted to know. I would’ve liked to have quiet time in each room we toured to just absorb the feel of the history. The slave cabins were very authentic, but felt very sterile. I was very unhappy that all the facilities were not open, and the restaurant was very small and not open when we visited. The bar was also closed that day. Grayline was the tour company we booked with and I do not feel the price was worth it. They are short staffed and we had to make a drop off an another plantation before we got to Oak Alley. Our group was too big to enjoy the atmosphere at Oak Alley.

One bus took 2 tours in one trip. They dropped one tour in one plantation, and then take us to the destination, Oak Alley Plantation. We spent about 2 hours there. We follow the tour guide of the Big House to visit the house. And then, walking around, or we could seat down to know some stores about the slaves who worked and lived here before. Actually, the general admission to the oak alley plantation was about $27 (12/2021) including the Big House tour.

Great Experience and learned a lot of history about plantations from the staff at Oak Alley Plantation. The tour guide there was very knowledgeable and answered questions quickly. Visited the gift shop and grabbed a sandwich and drink. All priced very affordable. Seating is very limited inside the gift shop for eating. So we had to eat outside. I would suggest to post signs reminding customers that indoor seating is limited. So to please eat so others can eat inside if so choose to do so.
