The Sonic, Mario and Donkey Kong Crossover Special is a television crossover film between the universes of Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong Country. The special combines traditional animation and CGI. Cameo characters are from Inspector Gadget [DIC], The Flintstones [Hanna-Barbera], The Simpsons [Gracie Films, 20th Century Fox] and The Ren & Stimpy Show [Spumco, Games Animation, Nickelodeon]
Plot[]
On the planet Mobius, Dr. Robotnik has finished repairing his fortress (which has been destroyed in "Robo-Ninjas") and calls out his henchbots, Scratch and Grounder to capture Sonic and his friends as he creates his Alternate Universe Portal that could trap them all forever. As the party starts, Sonic opens up the presents and stuff. Until Scratch and Grounder catches Sonic and his friends "red-handed" as they trap them in the bag.
As Scratch and Grounder return to Dr. Robotnik's repaired fortress, they release Sonic and his friends. Dr. Robotnik begins to prepare the Alternate Universe Portal. But the portal sends them all to a unknown world.
In the beach, the ghost of Coconuts (who's drowned in the water in "Robo-Ninjas") rises from the dead and is back to capture Sonic and to become leader of the S.S.S.S.S. Squad.
Sonic and his friends teleport to Dinosaur World. Sonic asks where they are. Which they don't know. Tails thinks that they travelled to the past. A clumsy caveboy named Oogtar meets the gang and introduces himself. Oogtar calls out for the cavepeople as they come in. Luigi, Princess Toadstool, Yoshi and Mario come in also as they greet them and introduce themselves. Sonic tells them that they have to get back to Mobius for his birthday party, but there's no way to make a portal to bring them back. Professor Von Schlemmer and Caninestein come in that can help to make a portal, but Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and the others' problem is that King Koopa's back, so Sonic and his friends are chosen to help them.
Meanwile on Mobius, Coconuts' ghost sees the Alternate Universe Portal and goes inside it.
Back to Dinosaur World. Inside King Koopa's throne room, Dr. Robotnik, Scratch and Grounder are sneaking out, until they're greeted by the Mechakoopas and King Koopa. Robotnik and Koopa argue but now become partners, so they can capture Sonic, Mario and their friends.
