Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows Lyrics

[Chorus 1]
Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you're near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine

[Refrain]
My life is sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
That's how this refrain goes
So come on, join in everybody!

[Chorus 2]
Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way
When you're in love to stay

[Chorus 1]
Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you're near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine
[Refrain]
My life is sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
That's how this refrain goes
So come on, join in, everybody!

[Chorus 2]
Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way
'Cause you're in love
You're in love
And love is here to stay!

Genius Annotation

“Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows” was recorded during the sessions for Lesley’s debut album I’ll Cry If I Want To, but shelved soon after, since it didn’t fit the album’s theme of crying. It was then released on her sophomore album Lesley Gore Sings of Mixed-Up Hearts in late 1963.

The tune was later released as a single in 1965 to coincide with her appearance in the hit teen movie Ski Party, in which she sang “Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows”.

The “summertime rouser”—as Billboard magazine deemed it in its Spotlight Reviews section—peaked at number 13 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in August, 1965, and became her biggest hit of the year.
