Took a quick hike to Sunset Rocks overlook. With all of the recent rain the trail was a bit mushy but well worth the views at the top. Short .8 mile hike to the top. Be sure and wear some good hiking shoes as trail can be kinda muddy with all the recent rains. There are two overlooks at the top so be sure to go to both. The trail is a continual incline but not too steep. Very family friendly hike.
It was not in our plans to make the sunset viewing but a nice walk and nature center if in the town of Highlands
Here in June with our wine & cheese to toast the beautiful views. While I have walked up in the past, it's so much easier to drive to the top!
The gravel road is drivable for higher axle vehicles (not sedans), however there are washed out places that have not been treated in a while. The hike is a relatively moderate short mile. The view at the top is impressive and would be great with the fall colors. Check it out!
We drove up to the parking at the top of the mountain and enjoyed the gorgeous view from both Sunset Rock and Sunrise Rock. We will be going back at sunrise and sunset. There is a park bench on Sunset Rock with a view of Highlands.
The sign at the trail head indicates 0:3 mile to the rocks when actually it is 0:65 mile. Worth the walk regardless. Beautiful view.
