Summit High School Reviews
Rating 4.03 out of 5 189 reviews
Summit High School is a very well-known school as it is in one of the wealthiest counties in the State of Tennessee. We have exceeding achievements in our academics as well as sports as we were the state champions in football. My school has been very enjoyable because we have so much opportunities for students to get involved in, whether that be in sports, fine arts, academics, and even clubs that relate to students interests. Summit has teachers that help engage students to further their knowledge in such a positive environment. However, something our school needs to improve on is how we treat each other. Many kids are made fun of behind their backs or shamed because of how they look or act, and nothing is done because it is not caught by a faculty member or reported as bullying. While this problem is not necessarily involved with how the school is itself, it’s something we can improve on to make our school better than what is was before and more welcoming to being diverse.
Summit High School is a fairly open campus, and there’s a bunch of groups you can get involved in. As a marching band kid, I’ve seen that if you can find a good group to bounce off of, you’re pretty set socially. There aren’t many huge cliques, and many different groups tend to blend together as well inside grades and even between grades. Sometimes there can be mishaps and iffy people, so sometimes it isn’t a super fun environment from looking at the school as a whole, but these are rare and most of these people you can avoid. Our sports are decent and we have a bunch. We used to be really good at football, but now we have to rebuild since most of our good players graduated a couple years ago. For being a decade and a half- old public school, it is very inviting, and as long as you put yourself out there in some aspect, you’ll have a good experience.
Summit High school strives to be inclusive of all students. While the arts department is lacking representation, this year we have made a change to include a "fine arts week" in order to show off the talent of these students. I simply wish the facility cared more about the arts as a whole, as we do so much for the school. Funding should go to the arts just as much as it goes to the sports. Overall, Summit is a safe and friendly school, however I wish the staff cared more about the arts and pushed those who are quieter and more creative to reach the acknowledgement they deserve.
