Summer’s almost here! But this year is definitely going to be different than most, and rightfully so. We probably won’t all be in a hurry to go to packed beaches to tan and go for a swim. International travel won’t be as worry-free as it used to be. And it’s likely that some social distancing rules will remain in place, with the world still dealing with a global pandemic. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t get into that summer state of mind.

These reads are the perfect escapes from everything 2020 has thrown at us so far, whether you’re reading them from the comfort of your couch or while socially distanced in a park. From hilarious rom-coms and touching family stories to essays about the AOC and deep dives into the self-care and wellness industry, these are the books you need to read this summer.
