Akuma's air fireball in Street Fighter 6 might not be as oppressive as we all fear if this new footage is any indicator

Akuma's Street Fighter 6 gameplay trailer dropped earlier this month and brought with it our first glimpse at what the legendary Shoto can do in the latest iteration of the long-running fighting game franchise. I think it's safe to say that nearly everyone who watched that showcase walked away from it thinking that Akuma looks absolutely broken in Street Fighter 6.

Since then, though, Capcom has revealed a lot more information about what Akuma is all about, and one interesting detail about his air fireball had me wondering if the special move would actually be as oppressive as it looks and as it has traditionally been. This new footage from the Season 2 build of Street Fighter 6 shows the design decision in action, and from the looks of it, Akuma's regular air fireball might not be quite as strong as we initially feared.

Combo Breaker 2024 will indeed be played on Street Fighter 6's Season 2 update and Akuma is fully legal

Combo Breaker 2024 is taking place on May 24 - 26, 2024, and is gearing up for an action packed weekend of fighting game action. Despite fans being very excited for the event, as we are every year, there was a little bit of controversy surrounding this year's major tournament — though not on the side of the tournament organizers.

We recently learned that Street Fighter 6's Season 2 update and Akuma will be launching on May 22, just two days before Combo Breaker, which made it so that the TOs had to decide whether or not to let the new patch rock or use the current version of the game we're all playing. After polling the Street Fighter 6 tournament's entrants, it appears those competing have voted to let it rock.

Here's what one of the greatest Street Fighter games ever made would look like as a Marvel vs. Capcom-style tag fighter

Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is often considered one of the greatest Street Fighter games ever made and even ranks for many people as the greatest fighting game of all time. Its intense neutral game, parry mechanic, and steep learning curve make it a prime example of what a fighting game should be, and thus, it remains a legendary entry in the Street Fighter franchise.

Game developer and fighting game researcher 2Dee4ever recently took Third Strike and combined it with a tag mechanic to envision what it might look like with influence from games such as Marvel vs. Capcom and Street Fighter X Tekken. The end result actually looks incredible.

The perfect combo of cute and sexy; fitness cosplayer JS Cosplay absolutely nails black dress Chun-Li

Chun-Li has many, many outfits, thanks in no small part to Capcom's decision to give her over 20 outfits back in Street Fighter 5, but none hit quite like the black dress that was her "Battle" attire from that same game.

Chun puts her hair down while donning the flowing dress, making for a deadly presentation of combined of elegance, beauty, and ability. JS Cosplay brings all that into the real world as she offers both professional and behind the scenes photos of her as this version of Chun-Li.

Akuma might actually be fair and balanced in Street Fighter 6

We're back with another episode of Talk and Block as DreamKing and I discuss the hottest topic in all of Street Fighter 6: Akuma.

We've seen a decent bit of footage for the coming DLC character (he arrives on May 22) and between what we've seen and what we've heard from those lucky few who have gotten to actually play him, there's no doubt he'll be incredibly powerful. That said, we did spot some things that could, if implemented correctly, make him relatively balanced.

Here's what it looks like to connect Akuma's Raging Demon for a 6,000 damage combo in Street Fighter 6

Typically in the Street Fighter series, the only way to combo into Akuma's Raging Demon is to first secure a crumple on the opponent. However, Street Fighter 6 has eased the combo restrictions of command grab super arts.

Though Akuma will only be able to perform the Raging Demon while he has 25% remaining health (and three bars of super gauge), this is the point in which Akuma will be at his most dangerous. Since the Season 2 update will be played at the AT&T Annihilator Cup, which allowed Jake'n'Bake on his live stream to provide an sneak peek at Akuma and the upcoming balance patch.

This Tekken 8 clip is a roller coaster of emotion and might have the best slow down moment we've seen yet

Tekken 8 has an amazing feature that rolled over from its predecessor and it makes for some truly hype and hilarious moments. Of course, I'm talking about the game's slow down mechanic, which sees the action slow to a crawl when a potential round-winning hit is about to land — though a hit doesn't always land in these scenarios.

With all of that being said, sometimes the slow-mo comes into play and highlights a funny interaction that has no real conclusion, and this is the basis for the clip we have for you today. In it, we see prominent Tekken commentator and player Rip taking on an opponent online, and not only is the round just an absolute roller coaster of emotions, but it has what might be the best slow-mo moment we've seen yet.
