Check into the hotel in the evening and was looking to grab some dinner before bed. The other restaurants all required reservation and this place took walk-ins. They have live music/entertainment every night til about 9pm. We were seated outside and had good service. Server was friendly and checked in regularly.

We ordered a Truffle Burger, Ahi Poke, Keiki Pasta with red sauce and 2 cocktails (Sea Dragon and an Old Fashioned). Food was good, no complaints. The drinks were below average, tasted more watered down and lacked flavor.

      Would return.

The Seaview Terrace is one of the main dining options at the grand Hyatt. The menu is rather limited. First thing is the surf and turf ravioli was disgusting. That meal was half eaten. The truffle burger had not truffles, just some Safeway truffle oil. The staff are friendly and the view is killer. But the food is straight garbage.

There a not enough expletives to cover how this food tasted. We were actually asking ourselves if we were at the right resort. A level 7 Hyatt with the grossest mattress pad food you could imagine.

The music went along with the rather geriatric crowd. Staff were A+ friendly. Too bad, even mediocre food would have scored this meal a win.

We did not eat on resort after that experience.

Great location- breakfast awful!! Very limited selection- bakery stuff feel, look and taste like they were bought in bulk ( possibly Costco?) , nothing tastes ( and looks ) like it has been freshly baked.
The bar is now subleased - so it is no longer the Hyatt - thus gone are the freshly baked pastries etc . Very limited- I wish they had at least hard boiled eggs , jam ( they sell bagels but only have cream and butter - jam would be nice ) .
For the location you can't beat it - but don't think you will enjoy your baked goods - most people throw them away half eaten .
      Very disappointing

Fantastic place! We typically prefer non-hotel restaurants while on vacation, but this was restaurant was fabulous! We walked into the restaurant with no reservations and they were so accommodating. The view was beautiful and the live music was just setting up as we were seated. The musician turned out to be a wonderful young man playing the guitar and singing awesome songs. Very entertaining.
The menu had a great selection for our family. We even had one family member who has dietary restrictions and the chef was very accommodating with his needs. Plus, his meal was delicious despite the limited items and spices he can eat. The rest of the party ordered the fish of the day (ono), truffle burger and mentaiko pasta. For cocktails, we ordered the skinny pina, cucumber elderflower collins, classic manhattan and lemonade.

We were too full to order dessert but continued to enjoy the wonderful live music.

There is plenty of parking, but if you prefer valet since the restaurant is part of the Grand Hyatt, it is available.

Terrible service. For a place this large and pricey you would think service would be on point. The staff are not warm or friendly. They get your order wrong. Ambiance is nice but too loud when the hawaiiian guy is singing. It's deafening. Food is very average. They don't even have pizza for kids. Awful

      Kauai No Reservations

One of the more challenging aspects of Kauai dining is finding a suitable dining spot when casual plate lunch places have all closed and more formal sit-down dining is all booked, especially in the touristy Poipu area

Seaview Terrace takes over the space of Illima Terrace during dinner and offers an eclectic menu

There's something for everyone and while the prices are a bit elevated reflecting the hotel location, it's very convenient with plentiful space for walk ins and no reservations taken

      Truffle Burger $25 / Caesar Salad $17 / Mentaiko Pasta $33 / Lobster Dynamite $37

      Seaview Terrace (Poipu, Kauai)

Seating is all open air and credit cards are all accepted. The best part is no reservations with plentiful seating.

If you want a place to eat, drink and enjoy the fabulous ocean view, this is the place to be.

It is great for couples who are seeking romance and suitable for family to enjoy good times together.

Food in the hotel is consistently good, the same goes for Seaview Terrance. I ordered the Grand Hyatt Salad and added the shrimp. It was amazing. Seafood never goes wrong in Hawaii.

The best view ever but the food is not appetizing. We ordered four different entrees and they were either bland or too salty. Not my favorite - especially since it is pricey. Beware of the "fish of the day" - paper would have more flavor. It was undercooked and tasteless. I love fish and I'm not sure what this was but it was far from good.

The best thing about this place is the view. On a clear day, the view from the terrace is breathtaking. We even saw a few whales.

The food is reasonably good. A standard high end resort fair. You won't remember anything great but it's fresh and of good quality.

A Five star review, for a TEN star View!

Yes, this place has a view that NEVER gets old.

Center stage in the Grand Hyatt's Kauai Resort, this is the place that you will want to have your coffee, light breakfast, or read your favorite book every morning that you wake up in Poipu.

Check out my pictures below and tell me I'm wrong,

      Waiting.....

      See, I told you so.

I mean if dictionary's had pictures next to each definition, I'm willing to bet that next to the word "Paradise", they are probably going to use the Seaview Terrace's picture in my review to show you what paradise actually looks like.

Well if they don't, shame on them, cause this view is absolutely, positively, picture perfect!

So, now that we've established that this place has a mediocre view... ;)

Let's talk about the reason we really wake up early to get our front row seat...

The most important meal of the Day...

      (Hint, it's not breakfast)...

      COFFEE!!!!

Yes, those Folgers Coffee people had it right.

(Sing it if you know it)

"The best part of waking up"... IYKYK =)

(comment if you know the ending)

Funny thing is, if you know this catchy song from those commercials in the 90's, there is a high probability you don't know what this acronym means and are googling as we speak what 'IYKYK' stands for.

      Haha, just sayin. ;)

      Ok back to paradise...

For those of you fortunate to come to Kauai, and
lucky enough to be a guest of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, consider yourself blessed to be able to enjoy the views Seaview Terrace offers each morning.

My recommendation is the ham & cheese croissant, a hard boiled egg, a banana, and an iced island coconut latte to start your morning off right. Cause at the end of the day, you're on vacation...

      Live. It. Up.

Bring a book, grab the newspaper, kick your feet up and enjoy the amazing view.
