BUENA VISTA - A 65-year-old Watertown man reported missing Tuesday was found dead at a crash scene Wednesday.

Authorities think Jerald T. Brennan was in central Wisconsin ice fishing and crashed his vehicle during his drive home, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.

A caller reported a one-vehicle crash about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday on State 54, between Corrigan and Lucht roads in the town of Buena Vista, according to the sheriff's office. The vehicle left the road, narrowly missing a guardrail, and traveled down an embankment into a wooded area, where it became covered with trees and debris. Recent snow also obscured the crash scene, which a passing driver later discovered.

The Portage County Medical Examiner's and Sheriff's departments are investigating the cause of Brennan's death and the crash.
