Steven James Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goldfinch Funeral Home - Conway Chapel on Feb. 23, 2024.
Conway,.....Steven Randall James October 15, 1953-February 18, 2024
Steve passed peacefully at Conway Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born to Lloyd and Carol Dutton James in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Steve was known for being the life of the party and never meeting a stranger. He was a talented guitarist and singer, and loved music and listening to "tunes." He played in bands for many years with his siblings, Gary and Robyn, as well as many lifelong friends. In addition to his musical talents, Steve was also a paralegal and a teacher. During the covid shutdown, he abandoned retirement to teach his grandchildren while the schools were operating remotely. Additionally, Steve was a proud member of Christ the Servant Lutheran church for many years where he enjoyed working with the youth ministry.
Steve will be remembered for his love of The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Breaking Bad and most of all the Carolina Gamecocks. Steve found joy in everything and lived his life "his way". Steve was one of a kind and will be missed by everybody that loved him.
Steve's family meant everything to him. He is survived by his wife Kitten, daughter Brandy (Matthew), sister Robyn (Mark) and sister in law Dianne. Grandchildren Adeline Wilcox, Jacob Stiebel, Campbell Wilcox, Thompson Wilcox, Rebecca Stiebel, and Lincoln Wilcox. He is also survived by his nephew and nieces Dean James, Alyssa Musick (Michael), Alex Ruff, and Great-Nephew Miles Musick. Steve also leaves behind many cousins who adored him. Steve was predeceased by his brother, Gary, his father. Lloyd, and his mother, Carol.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 4:00-7:00 pm at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Conway on February 28th.
At present time, details are being ironed out for the" Steve James Sergeant Peppers " scholarship. This will provide funding for Conway High School arts/ music students for needs such as uniforms and/ or instruments. Steve was a charitable person with deep concerns for the underprivileged. As a family we want to honor Steve's giving heart by establishing this scholarship and will provide information as it becomes available. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to this fund.
