Someone I know wants me to steam crabs for her on Monday evening before her trip to North Carolina.  She is leaving early Tuesday morning.  My plan was to steam them and have her place them in a cooler with ice for her trip in the morning.  Is this a good idea or should I just pack them up with lots of paper and wrap basket in a blanket to keep them warm as long as possible?  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Dont try to keep them warm.....if you do, they will continue cooking.  If they plan to eat them later, cool them as quickly as possible and travel with them in the cool/cold state.  When ready to eat, they can either do a quick (5 minute) resteam, or put on cookie sheets in the oven with some water in a pan for moisture or wrap them in wet paper towel and microwave quickly.  of course the best is from the pot and cold comes in second for me but any of these will work if not over done or done too long.

Ok cool.  That is along the lines of what I was thinking too.  Thank you.
