This is a good example of country music just after WW2; that’s why they called it Country and Western. If you weren’t into Hank Williams or the Carter Family, you listened to the Delmore Brothers.

It’s amazingly sparse, and it’s the opposite of many modern day country songs that seem to be written by focus groups. The imagery is spot-on and the performance shows why this was the Delmore Brothers signature song.
