2020 claims long list of restaurants and State Street businesses

A list of 22 closed Madison-area restaurants published in the Wisconsin State Journal, along with a story about 31 permanently shuttered State Street stores on Channel3000.com, have driven home the true impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Most of the businesses on the list have closed and will not be reopening. The list of restaurants are:  

  • Dragon I; 
  • Hungry Badger Cafe; 
  • La Nopalera; 
  • Pizza Brutta in Middleton; 
  • The Tin Fox; 
  • Common Ground; 
  • Captain Bill’s; 
  • Manna Cafe & Bakery; 
  • Doolittle’s Woodfire Grill; 
  • Helbachs Coffee Roasters; 
  • Fazoli’s; 
  • Good Food Low Carb Cafe; 
  • Potbelly on University Avenue; 
  • HopCat; 
  • Pho King Good; 
  • Freddy Valentine’s; 
  • Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar; 
  • Charlie’s on Main; 
  • Rockhound Brewing Co.; 
  • Plaka Taverna; 
  • Sunroom Cafe; and 
  • Angelo’s in Monona. 

 Additionally, State Street has seen the closure of 31 stores with an additional 14 in jeopardy of closing. There are now fewer than 120 businesses on State Street.
