With Rey making her return in Star Wars: New Jedi Order, here are all her potential Padawan recruits to date. Long before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine knew the Jedi were the one threat to his return. To that end, he seduced Ben Solo to the dark side and destroyed Luke Skywalker's Jedi Temple, killing all the students he had taught over the years. The Emperor intended this to be the end of the Jedi Order - but the Force had other ideas. Rey's new Jedi Order will be very different from the Jedi of the prequel trilogy; Rey has been learning from ancient Jedi texts that come from Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, and there's strong evidence they were sworn to serve the balance of the Force rather than the light side.
The galaxy has now been through several Jedi Purges, meaning viewers can be forgiven for expecting there to be precious few candidates left. Fortunately, tie-ins have teased that certain forces have already been traveling the galaxy seeking out potential Jedi; Delilah S. Dawson's Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire revealed a group called the Gatherers are spreading the teachings of the Jedi and collecting Jedi artifacts, focusing particularly on kyber crystals. Although they lack anything more than basic Force-sensitivity, they believe they're following the will of the Force, and that they will bring the Jedi back. With the help of the Gatherers, the Force Ghosts to serve as her guides, and the knowledge contained within the ancient Jedi texts, Rey has everything she needs to train a new generation of Jedi.
Grogu
While Grogu’s fate after The Mandalorian has yet to be revealed, his species allows for him to span multiple centuries in the Star Wars’ timeline. Given that he would be around 91 years old during the time of Star Wars: New Jedi Order, it seems like Grogu must be in Rey's new movie. What’s more, Yoda was around 100 years old when he first became a Jedi Master, meaning Grogu is at the perfect age to further his Jedi training alongside Rey. Nevertheless, his return in Rey's Jedi Order hangs on whether or not he wants to balance his Force-sensitivty with his Mandalorian heritage.
Finn
One of the most obvious candidates for Rey's new Jedi Order is, of course, her good friend Finn. Finn's Force story was one of the most disappointing in the sequel trilogy, because marketing for Star Wars: The Force Awakens had seemed to suggest the former stormtrooper would become a Jedi, but he'd barely begun tapping into the Force by the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Still, Finn's increasing Force-sensitivity proved essential during the Battle of Exegol, and he's also clearly cultivated a Force bond with Rey. All this appears to set Finn up as one of Rey's first Jedi Padawans, training under her in order to master the Force. It's doubtful actor John Boyega will return to Star Wars anytime soon, given he's openly critical of how the sequel trilogy handled his character; that means Finn's story is only likely to continue in tie-in media.
Jannah & her Company of Stormtrooper Defectors
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed Finn wasn't the only stormtrooper to break free of the First Order's conditioning, when Rey and her friends stumbled upon an entire group of deserters led by Jannah. According to Jannah, her entire company had simply downed weapons in the middle of a battle; there was no conscious thought, just pure instinct, a certain knowledge that what they were doing was wrong. Tie-ins such as the junior novelization have fleshed this out, revealing the First Order used the dark side as part of their brainwashing process, hinting all stormtrooper rebels were actually Force-sensitive. If that's the case, then the Force has already gathered together the first generation of Rey's Jedi Order - and there may be many more as well, because in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Phasma suggested many stormtroopers needed reconditioning.
Temiri Blagg, the Broom Boy
Star Wars: The Last Jedi ended on a poignant note of hope, as the legend of Luke Skywalker inspired a group of urchins on Canto Bight. One of these was Temiri Blagg, known to fans as "Broom Boy," who had become fascinated by the Resistance. Like Luke Skywalker, he was shown gazing into the stars deep in thought, and then used the Force to telekinetically draw a broom into his hand. It was a beautiful way of signifying the importance of Luke, and that his legend would inspire a new generation of heroes. It's likely the Force will lead him from Canto Bight to Rey.
Karr Nuq Sin, the Force Collector
Kevin Shinick's Force Collector is set shortly before Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it features a young Force-sensitive named Karr Nuq Sin who was the great-grandson of an Order 66 survivor. He possessed the rare Force power of psychometry, allowing him to experience an object's past through touch; Karr devoted himself to unraveling the secrets of the Jedi, and by the end of the book he and his friend Maize Raynshi had begun to travel the galaxy seeking out historical artifacts for Karr to touch. Karr would probably never become a powerful Jedi, but his power of psychometry could be extremely useful in rebuilding the Jedi Order.
Dean, from LEGO Star Wars
A mechanic who worked on Mustafar in LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, Dean was a naive youth who worshiped Poe Dameron and dreamed of becoming a Republic pilot. He was confirmed to be Force-sensitive, and appeared to possess a relatively rare power that allows him to relate to machines and technology, intuitively seeing circuit boards and repairing systems through the Force. It wouldn't be hard for Star Wars to make Dean canon; thematically he fits the classic Star Wars pattern of the "Everyman Hero" who learns he has a great destiny, and his abilities are pretty unique. So it's possible he joins Rey's Academy in Star Wars: New jedi Order.
