Summary

  • Ahsoka's death in The Clone Wars is significant, as the Daughter transferred her essence into Ahsoka to bring her back to life.
  • Morai, a convor linked to the Daughter, follows Ahsoka, showing she is tied to the Mortis gods and possibly replaced the Daughter.
  • The Force may be calling Ahsoka to take her place among the Mortis gods, as seen in her connection to Peridea and the World Between Worlds.

Ahsoka Tano once died in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and this forgotten death has big implications for Ahsoka season 2. Ahsoka has since had several resurrections, one of which is included in Ahsoka season 1 with the help of Anakin Skywalker in the World Between Worlds. Her death in The Clone Wars, however, is even more significant - and though it's often forgotten, it will no doubt play a key role in the next installment of the Star Wars TV show, particularly where the planet Peridea is concerned.

The Ahsoka season 1 ending sees Ahsoka, Sabine Wren, Shin Hati, and Baylan Skoll all abandoned on Peridea, the latter of whom is last seen standing on a statue of the Mortis gods. With Mortis being the planet where Ahsoka died in The Clone Wars, and the Daughter being the one who gave her own life to save Ahsoka's, this is highly significant - especially because the Daughter's statue is the only one that's crumbled. It's clear, then, that Ahsoka's Clone Wars death will be playing a pivotal role in season 2 - and it could bring some major changes with it.

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 3, Ahsoka, Anakin, and Obi-Wan are stranded on the strange world of Mortis. While there, the Son, the manifestation of the dark side of the Force, poisons Ahsoka, which kills her. Afterward, he accidentally stabs his sister, the manifestation of the light side of the Force, while attempting to assassinate the Father, the one who keeps the Force in balance. Her dying act is to transfer her life Force into Ahsoka to resurrect the girl. When Ahsoka wakes up, she doesn't remember what happened, although Anakin and Obi-Wan may have told her later.

Ahsoka is now forever intrinsically linked to the Mortis gods, and she could even have replaced the Daughter when she died.

This is significant because it means that Ahsoka now carries the essence of the light side of the Force inside of her. One would think that once the physical manifestation of the light side of the Force was killed, the universe would be thrown into chaos and darkness. That, however, didn't happen, because she now lives on inside Ahsoka. Carrying the essence of the light side of the Force could mean that Ahsoka is now forever intrinsically linked to the Mortis gods, and she could even have replaced the Daughter when the Daughter died.

Morai Follows Ahsoka Around

The Convor Was Once Linked To The Daughter

Morai flying on Peridea in Ahsoka Episode 8.

Morai is a female convor who is heavily associated with the Daughter. She is said to be either the Daughter's servant or possibly a manifestation of the Daughter herself. Ahsoka said that she owed Morai her life, which implies that Morai is connected to the Daughter on some spiritual level. The fact that Morai, the spirit connected to the Daughter's will, follows Ahsoka around is significant, as it shows that Ahsoka is now permanently tied to the Daughter - whose essence she now possesses. Morai being on Peridea, along with the statues, deepens this significance even more.

Ahsoka Implies That She And Sabine Were Meant To Be On Peridea

The Force Could Be Calling Ahsoka To Take Her Place Among The Mortis Gods

Ahsoka tells Sabine in the Ahsoka finale that she believes they are meant to be on Peridea - a planet that seems to be connected to the Mortis gods. Ahsoka may be sensing the pull of the Force calling her to be one with the other Mortis gods. It is clear that the Daughter's will has been following her around in the form of Morai since Ahsoka was resurrected via the Daughter's life force. If Ahsoka did replace the Daughter in some sense, then it could be that Ahsoka is being called to take her place in a more physical sense.

Ahsoka is being called to take her place in a more physical sense.

Ahsoka going to the World Between Worlds when she dies in Ahsoka episode 4 is another significant clue. Lots of Jedi have been killed in combat, and none of them went to the World Between Worlds and were given a chance to live again. The only reason Ezra Bridger had access to it at one point was through a mural that depicted the Father, Son, and Daughter. The fact that Ahsoka could go there without a portal suggests that she is still tied to Mortis. Ahsoka season 2, then, may prepare her to take her place as the new Daughter.
