SHAPIRO, Stanley Paul, 100, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Frances Brown Shapiro. The youngest son of Benjamin and Fannie Shapiro, Stanley was born in St Louis, Mo., and spent his childhood in Hatboro, Pa. After moving to Richmond, Virginia, Stanley married Fran and graduated as a Lieutenant from Air Force Officer Training School, serving as a navigator and flight engineer during World War II. Upon leaving the Air Force, the young couple settled in Richmond, where Stanley and his brothers founded Stanley Toy Company. Well respected and admired by his business associates, Stanley was elected President of the Toy Wholesalers of America, where he served for many years. Upon retiring, Stanley and Fran spent their years between Richmond and Florida, enjoying life with family and friends. Stanley was a true gentleman with a kind spirit and true gift for getting along with others. With his respectful demeanor and thoughtful manner, he was well-loved by everyone he met, including business acquaintances who became lifelong friends. Stanley and Fran had a close circle of friends dating back to their first years of marriage. Whether in Richmond or wintering in Florida, Stanley enjoyed outings with the fellows and could often be found on the golf course or at the poker table with his friends. For over 70 years, Stanley and Fran were active members of Temple Beth-El. Always involved in the community, he was also one of the founding members of Oak Hill Country Club. Stanley's heart belonged to his beloved Frannie-Girl for over seven decades and their loving marriage was one for the books. Though generous with his family and friends, he was a humble and down to earth man who cherished time with loved ones above all else. Stanley is survived by his children, Danny and Barrie Shapiro, Sandy and Richard Smith; grandchildren, Jennifer Ferrebee, Dana Reynolds, Jaffee Ort and Marylsa Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Millie Ferrebee, Sammy Ort, Evan and Bowen Reynolds.
