Many jazz stars played in his orchestras such as: Art Pepper, Stan Getz, Boots Mussulli, Buddy Childers, Ray Wetzel, Al Porcino, Jack Costanzo, Shorty Rogers, Bud Shank, Shelly Manne, Zoot Sims, Frank Rosolino, Conte Candoli and more.
