Was in Naples for a family wedding so thought it would be a waste not to visit the stadium and try have a look around. I read mix reviews saying some people were turned away and some were allowed access inside the stands to admire the stadium but on my visit I was not fortunate. We found an entrance that was open and had 3 old security guards sat around chatting, I politely asked would there be any chance I could look in the stand and have 1 picture but they flat out refused and kept saying β€œno tours”.

The area surrounding the stadium is very bland and doesn’t offer much for sight seeing either. It is just surrounded by apartments and a few restaurants/bars. There is also a small club store opposite the stadium which has some Napoli merchandise but as club stores go it doesn’t have much to offer.

My advice to anyone who’s a football fan and likes to visit European stadiums would be to not bother unless you have tickets for a game. There is not a lot to see and there are so many other teams/stadiums which offer tours etc.

Had to visit the mother-land. If you're a football fan like me, you can't avoid chills while walking around the stadium.
Banners, photos and graffiti everywhere gives it a special atmosphere.

Our son is a big football fan & loves to visit different stadiums in the UK, we've enjoyed stadium tours at Man Utd, Liverpool & Man City, plus Barcelona & have seen stadiums at all levels from National league to the Premier league & Wembley. In February this year we really enjoyed an amazing match at Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. So knowing that Napoli have just won the Italian premier league for the 1st time in 33 years we were really looking forward to seeing the stadium, we were staying in Sorrento & all the streets there are covered in Naples bunting & flags so we thought the stadium would be another level. What a disappointment !! We took the train to Naples then a very clean, modern, air conditioned metro train on line 2 getting off at Campi Flegrei station & a 5 minute walk to the stadium. We couldn't believe this was actually the stadium, it's so old & run down & there were only 2 small signs with Maradona's face on it, no big posters celebrating the famous victory, nothing !!! There were some big streamers & flags on the apartment buildings opposite but nothing at the stadium itself. It looked as if the stadium has been totally neglected & needs a lot spending on it, there were builders working inside the stadium & security wouldn't let us in for a look & wouldn't even take a picture on my phone for me, so let's hope they're able to improve the building. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this stadium just to look at the moment, we took the train back into Naples & enjoyed seeing the football flags, bunting, cardboard cut outs of players etc on the city streets much more.

Liked the stadium which wasn’t as decrepit as I’d been led to believe. The concourse was very basic though - just one hut selling food & drink where I was and that didn’t open straight away, although there was someone coming round selling stuff during the game. Shame about the running track and being so far from the pitch, but atmosphere still amazing. All in all, a memorable experience and can’t wait to go back.

I am a well travelled football fan that loves historical stadiums. We visited as away fans (England) vs Italy and we won the game 2-1 so I should be happy to write a good review but I simply cannot. Our experience was awful, first of all we were strongly advised to use away fan free buses to the ground from the central maritime station, what should be a 25 minute journey took an hour and 45 minutes, I believe this was because the police directed the bus drivers to take a scenic route. When we finally arrive at the away end we were kettled and basically crushed into a police cordon as there was insufficient stewards to perform security checks and only two ticket barriers for 3000 fans. My wife uses a crutch and was forced to walk up a steep hill into this miss. The one saving Grace was once through three security cordons and the ticket barrier one steward took pity on my wife who was in tears and allowed us in the section for disabled fans which at least meant we could get a seat and watch the game whilst recovering from the ordeal.

Saw Napoli beat Ajax 4-2 in the Champions League. Great atmosphere and an easy experience. The ground is extremely easy to get to from the centre of Naples; just take line 2 on the Metro and get off at Campi Flegrei (just follow the crowds). The ground is literally 5 minutes away. Getting to your seat is also extremely easy, just look for the gate which will be printed on the ticket, as is the area, seat row and seat number; it is all very clear. There is a lot of security but it isn’t heavy handed but remember to bring your passport or ID card as you need to prove you are the person on the ticket. I arrived about an hour before kick off and it took about 5 minutes to get in. They don’t allow bottles inside the ground but there are plenty of drinks sellers inside who you can buy water off (€1 for a small bottle of water). Once in your seat soak up the atmosphere and enjoy! The noise is incredible. Point of information; if travelling by Metro get your return ticket before you go otherwise you’ll have a long wait and don’t forget to validate it as there is a lot of security at the station; I had to go through 3 check points before I got to the platform.

My mate is a big football fan so he wanted to go even though there wasn't a game on. Our taxi driver had a word with the guys inside and they allowed us to have a wander onto the stands. Once inside there were few others sat there too so it may well be something they allow if you ask. Once in its a football ground. Very little interest unless you are a football fan but at least they didnt charge you to get in. As far as am aware there were no tours etc.
