Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Easy to get to from Montesanto station, take the Cumana railway, get off at Mostra, walking distance from it, both Napoli fans and tourists are well catered for with multiple bar stalls and WC, it feels
safe with all the security and well behaved Napoli supporters, great atmosphere

I was on holiday in Sorrento and managed to get a ticket from one of the hotel staff to the game against Fiorentina.

Napoli’s Stadio San Paolo is the only one of the major stadiums in Serie A that I had not managed to visit in all my years following Manchester United.

It was not a disappointment, the atmosphere created by the home support was nothing short of amazing. The stadium itself has obviously seen better days but in all honesty most in Europe are the same.

All in all a great afternoon out with Napoli running out 1-0 winners and its another stadium I can add to my long and growing list..

Although the stadium is looking a little tired now, it's 55000 capacity lends itself to giving spectators a fantastic experience. As an English football fan, I found it very easy to navigate my way around and find the entrance as shown on my ticket. There are lots of vendors around the stadium selling SSC Napoli merchandise and there are plenty of places to purchase food and drink. If you are visiting from another country, be sure to bring your passport to the stadium as this will be checked against the details printed on your ticket. My tip is to sit in the 'distinti' section where things are a little more calm. If you want to be amongst the famous ultras then go for 'curva a' or 'curva b'. The Napoli fans are friendly but passionate about their football.

Heard in advance that the stadium wasn't quite as high a standard as most English football grounds. It was true but the San Paolo more than made up for it with an extraordinary atmosphere. It was quite exceptional, the tifosi were amazing. The noise and singing was unrelenting and added to a great night. The security was very tight but not intrusive and access and exit was handled well by the stewards. The facilities are a bit basic but would you rather sit in the 'Library at Highbury' watching Arsenal or 'The Theatre of prawn sandwiches' watching Man Utd. There's more atmosphere on the moon. The San Paolo is a REAL football experience Forza Napoli!!

If you want to see what loyalty and support to a local football team is all about, come and witness and Serie A match here in Stadio San Paolo. Home ground to the Napoli football team, the fans here are so passionate about football and how the chanting and song sung by the supports are just out of this world.

The stadium is slightly old but the atmosphere is electrifying. Diego Armando Maradona is still highly revered here and you can see his jerseys and flags being displayed here each time there is a match. It is just awesome.

I travelled to Naples to specifically watch the game against Juventus. Easiest route to get to the stadium is the metro from Piazza Garibaldi below the Centrale Train Station (there’s a shop below which sells tickets).

A tip for those who visit:

* Get to the stadium around 2 hours before kick off - seats are basically a free for all and everyone sits anywhere

We wanted to take in a football match while in Italy so we booked tickets in advance for the Napoli vs Cagliari match.

We got there from the Port on a 151 bus which takes about 20 minutes or so.

Getting in - you must have photo id, which matches the names on the ticket.

We had tickets for the upper bank near Curva A. Once inside there was no obvious seat markings and a steward told us just to sit anywhere. We found some good seats fairly close to the Ultras section. The plastic bucket seats are not particularly comfortable or clean but most people either perch on the edge, stand or stand on the seats. By the time kick off came, every walkway and stair case was crammed with people.

We didn't spot any drinks or food concessions but a drinks seller valiantly battled his way through the crowds selling water and fizzy drinks.

The atmosphere was great with lots of chanting and singing, despite this being a relatively low key match. We felt perfectly safe and thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Afterwards - be careful leaving the ground as mopeds, people and cars come from all directions and there is a somewhat casual attitude to the highway code.

It took a while to find a bus that we could squeeze onto but once we were all crammed in everybody was good natured.

My advice - if you wish to enjoy the same standards of Stadium, stewarding and cleanliness that you would find in a Premier League Stadium then this is not for you. If you're not too bothered then this is a great football experience.

Stadio San Paolo looks absolutely awesome. However on the day we visited we were unable to go inside and due to time constraints could not return.
