Our son is a big football fan & loves to visit different stadiums in the UK, we've enjoyed stadium tours at Man Utd, Liverpool & Man City, plus Barcelona & have seen stadiums at all levels from National league to the Premier league & Wembley. In February this year we really enjoyed an amazing match at Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. So knowing that Napoli have just won the Italian premier league for the 1st time in 33 years we were really looking forward to seeing the stadium, we were staying in Sorrento & all the streets there are covered in Naples bunting & flags so we thought the stadium would be another level. What a disappointment !! We took the train to Naples then a very clean, modern, air conditioned metro train on line 2 getting off at Campi Flegrei station & a 5 minute walk to the stadium. We couldn't believe this was actually the stadium, it's so old & run down & there were only 2 small signs with Maradona's face on it, no big posters celebrating the famous victory, nothing !!! There were some big streamers & flags on the apartment buildings opposite but nothing at the stadium itself. It looked as if the stadium has been totally neglected & needs a lot spending on it, there were builders working inside the stadium & security wouldn't let us in for a look & wouldn't even take a picture on my phone for me, so let's hope they're able to improve the building. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this stadium just to look at the moment, we took the train back into Naples & enjoyed seeing the football flags, bunting, cardboard cut outs of players etc on the city streets much more.

Saw Napoli beat Ajax 4-2 in the Champions League. Great atmosphere and an easy experience. The ground is extremely easy to get to from the centre of Naples; just take line 2 on the Metro and get off at Campi Flegrei (just follow the crowds). The ground is literally 5 minutes away. Getting to your seat is also extremely easy, just look for the gate which will be printed on the ticket, as is the area, seat row and seat number; it is all very clear. There is a lot of security but it isn’t heavy handed but remember to bring your passport or ID card as you need to prove you are the person on the ticket. I arrived about an hour before kick off and it took about 5 minutes to get in. They don’t allow bottles inside the ground but there are plenty of drinks sellers inside who you can buy water off (€1 for a small bottle of water). Once in your seat soak up the atmosphere and enjoy! The noise is incredible. Point of information; if travelling by Metro get your return ticket before you go otherwise you’ll have a long wait and don’t forget to validate it as there is a lot of security at the station; I had to go through 3 check points before I got to the platform.

Went here for the Napoli Barcelona match. Tried to get tickets from several blue points and box offices to only meet answers like: no its finished, we dont sell here, no more tickets. When the official online ticketoffice for Napoli said it was plenty. It is the worst system, to buy tickets online you need a supporter card. So technically it is impossible to get tickets. They dont even have official ticket office at the stadium! We got the message that we had to drive a bit in a car with a random dude to buy it through an app. And when we asked guards at the stadium for help they only replied rude. We had the worst experience ever. Why do they make it so hard for tourists to buy tickets? Even when it is plenty seats that are empty??? I dont understand it.

Was in Naples for a family wedding so thought it would be a waste not to visit the stadium and try have a look around. I read mix reviews saying some people were turned away and some were allowed access inside the stands to admire the stadium but on my visit I was not fortunate. We found an entrance that was open and had 3 old security guards sat around chatting, I politely asked would there be any chance I could look in the stand and have 1 picture but they flat out refused and kept saying β€œno tours”.

The area surrounding the stadium is very bland and doesn’t offer much for sight seeing either. It is just surrounded by apartments and a few restaurants/bars. There is also a small club store opposite the stadium which has some Napoli merchandise but as club stores go it doesn’t have much to offer.

My advice to anyone who’s a football fan and likes to visit European stadiums would be to not bother unless you have tickets for a game. There is not a lot to see and there are so many other teams/stadiums which offer tours etc.

Can we experience Napoli stadium tour on non-matchday? If yes, would you advise how to get the ticket, please?

I have visited this ground 6 times over the past 18 years.Β  Most recently in May 2016 when Napoli secured champions league football for the 2016-17 season and their striker broke the record for the number of goals in a season (36).
It was a joy and I would recommend all to visit and experience something truly unique.

This stadium and football club has history,Β  great atmosphereΒ  (nothing else like it that I've experienced ), friendly and welcoming fans and the style of football that is played is attractive and attacking.

History:
The stadium is old and in need of repair.Β  Thus there are few snack and drink outlets in the ground.Β  The WC's are old and not the best.Β  The owner of Napoli is trying very hard to secure funding from the local government who own the stadium to upgrade the facilities. Built in 1959 it was all standing and enjoyed a peak attendance of 129000. Then it was renovated for the 1990 world cup.Β  A roof was installed and seats.Β  The capacity was then 82000. Since then no upkeep has occurred.Β  Therefore recently the sections high up had to be fenced off due to safety concerns. The capacity currently is somewhere between 65000 and 70000. Napoli will regularly get over 50000 fans in the ground.

As a team Napoli has suffered from bias from the Italian FA. As a result often the fans are barred from certain games (namely Roma and Juventus ). The Italian FA has policy of protecting the more sesuccessful clubs such as Juventus , Milan and Inter. Napoli doors not have many friends in Serie A. As a result expect jeers and boos during the national anthem. Remember that Neopolitans don't feel as if they are Italian but rather as Neopolitan or from the Kingdom of the 2 Scillys.Β Β Β  They have established 'friendships' (something common in Italy) with Genoa, catania and Palermo.Β
They have the highest following both home and away is Serie A.

The Ground:
You will not see any stewards. Seat numbers on the tickets are pointless.Β  Fans start to turn up 1 to 2 hours before to get the seats they want.
The fans are friendly and you will be safe.Β  We sat next to 3 women who kindly lent us an umbrella when it started to rain. On the other side there was a family of 4 which included a 4 year old girl.Β  Watching Napoli is definitely a family affair. The stadium has more women and children then men.Β  The locals immediately know when you are tourist but you will find that they appreciate that you have selected to watch Napoli. Just don't wear anything that represents another Italian club.
The ground is made up of 5 main sections.Β
1st. The away fans section.Β  This is usually empty or has very few fans in it with the exception of Genoa who are considered as 'friends' of Napoli thus when they play there is a carnival atmosphere.
2nd. Curva A. This is where the hard core fans go to.Β  Here there will be flares and loud fire works that shake the stadium when set off.Β  Seats cost between €12 & €18 per match.Β  However to sit here you really need to know the songs and anthems they sing.
3rd. Curva B. The same as Curva A but the fans here are a touch older.Β  Still loud with flares and flags.Β  Once again you need to know the songs to sit here.Β  Prices are the same as Curva A.
4th. Disitanti.Β  This is the largest section and goes the length of the pitch facing the dug outs. This entire section is very friendly.Β  The atmosphere is very good with flags and songs but you are not expected to know them.Β  Prices for seats are roughly €25.
5th. Posillipo.Β  This is the section behind the dug outs where the owner and major sponsors sit.Β  The most expensive seats. It has the media section behind,Β  visitors to one side and Curva A to the other. Once again they will sing in this area.

Getting there:
The city's metro system serves the astra very well.Β  After the game there are plenty of trains waiting to aid you away.Β  Tickets cost €1.5 and cover 90 minutes of transport on all of the city's public transport.

Although the stadium is looking a little tired now, it's 55000 capacity lends itself to giving spectators a fantastic experience. As an English football fan, I found it very easy to navigate my way around and find the entrance as shown on my ticket. There are lots of vendors around the stadium selling SSC Napoli merchandise and there are plenty of places to purchase food and drink. If you are visiting from another country, be sure to bring your passport to the stadium as this will be checked against the details printed on your ticket. My tip is to sit in the 'distinti' section where things are a little more calm. If you want to be amongst the famous ultras then go for 'curva a' or 'curva b'. The Napoli fans are friendly but passionate about their football.

Organised 4 tickets to the Napoli vs Inter game. Went to the stadium via train (only two short stops from where we were staying). The atmosphere in and around the stadium was great. The locals are so passionate. Whilst the stadium itself doesn't look like much from the outside, once inside the fans create a real passionate and fun atmosphere (better than any game I have been at in Europe). I wouldn't recommend going there just to see the stadium itself; be sure to go to a game and enjoy the party!

We wanted to take in a football match while in Italy so we booked tickets in advance for the Napoli vs Cagliari match.

We got there from the Port on a 151 bus which takes about 20 minutes or so.

Getting in - you must have photo id, which matches the names on the ticket.

We had tickets for the upper bank near Curva A. Once inside there was no obvious seat markings and a steward told us just to sit anywhere. We found some good seats fairly close to the Ultras section. The plastic bucket seats are not particularly comfortable or clean but most people either perch on the edge, stand or stand on the seats. By the time kick off came, every walkway and stair case was crammed with people.

We didn't spot any drinks or food concessions but a drinks seller valiantly battled his way through the crowds selling water and fizzy drinks.

The atmosphere was great with lots of chanting and singing, despite this being a relatively low key match. We felt perfectly safe and thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Afterwards - be careful leaving the ground as mopeds, people and cars come from all directions and there is a somewhat casual attitude to the highway code.

It took a while to find a bus that we could squeeze onto but once we were all crammed in everybody was good natured.

My advice - if you wish to enjoy the same standards of Stadium, stewarding and cleanliness that you would find in a Premier League Stadium then this is not for you. If you're not too bothered then this is a great football experience.

We had the best time ever! We've been to wembley to watch England play football but this was 100 times better for atmosphere. We got there with 45 minutes to spare and went to where we thought we'd get our seats. ALL the seats were taken with standing room only. I spoke to a man who said I had to stand and that he was sorry "We're Italian!" It was so funny. We ended up standing on the steps and it was a great view. We were deafened by the whistling as the players came on to warm up. And it stayed like that except when they went 1-0 down. Then silence ensued. So weird. But the Juventus players weren't allowed to attend so it went eerily quiet. But at one point I had a hand gripping my shoulder, my daughter had a hand grip her leg, all in pure excitement. We had the best time ever. Never felt concerned by any trouble so don't be put off, just be sensible. Would have taken younger children no problem.
Words of advice: We arrived by train but left in a taxi. Safest to do so.
Do not support anyone other than Napoli. You will not get out alive. My son went because he was a huge Juventus fan but we knew that if we dared to react in any way to them we would be in big trouble. We actually ended up all Napoli fans by the end anyway so it was all good :)
You MUST bring ID to get in. Even though you may not get your actual seats you will not get in through the gates.
Learn to whistle :)
