St Joseph’s Hospice - Psychological Therapies Team

Service details

The psychological therapies team at St Joseph’s Hospice offers support to anyone who is under the medical care of the hospice and their families.

Bereavement support is also available for:

  • anyone aged 18 – 50 who live in the City of London or Hackney or are registered with a City of London or Hackney G.P, who have no connection with the Hospice but have experienced a bereavement or who are anticipating the death of a close friend or relative from an advanced, terminal illness, or are living with an advanced terminal illness

  • Bereaved children and young people, or those anticipating the death of a close friend or family member, living in Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets who have no connection to the Hospice.

Counselling takes place at St Joseph’s Hospice, though they can arrange initial meetings in other venues e.g. schools, where needed. Young People under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied to the Hospice for their sessions.

Parents can also access ad hoc advice from the team over the phone, or via the monthly “Good Grief Drop-in”, every first Thursday of the month at Ann Tayler Children’s Centre, 3.30pm - 5pm.
