After we visited all of the landmarks planned, we stopped by the Visitors center looking for other ideas. They told us about a Walking Tour of the 1908 race riot sights, which was fascinating and informative. They provided a listing of more than 20 fresh ideas, many with discount coupons available. A great place to go if visiting the area

We went to get suggestions on what to do. They gave us a list of places to visit and suggestions on where to eat. It's a cute place. Abraham Lincoln had a law office on the second floor of the building. They have a replica of what his office may have looked like.

First time Springfield visitors from Chicago. Dropped by the visitor center, received with a friendly and very welcoming atmosphere. The center is clean, organized. Miss Cathy A. shared so many helpful informations not only about where we can go but also shared how to get from one place to the other. Best of all, she shared the specialties which are Unique to Springfield, the "Must-have" while we are here.. the Horseshoe sandwich and the famous Cozy Dog. We have yet to figure out how to get the Cozy dog as we travelled via Amtrak and do not plan to rent-a-car. We have a couple of days to figure that out 😀 a huge thank you Miss Cathy A. and the 2 ladies with her at the center. Thanks for sharing the recipes too. Thanks so much ladies. Appreciate all you do!

We first parked at Municipal Parking ramp that charge .75 cents an hour and as we were walking toward the Museum we saw the Visitors Bureau and decided to stop there. At this place we were able to get free parking at any meters with grey top and they gave us a card to put on the dashboard with date of visit. They also gave us coupon for two adult tickets for 16 dollars which was cheaper then AAA for the Museum. We went back to get our car from the Municipal lot and found a meter parking very close to the Museum and placed the card on the dashboard and had no problems. We walked to all the other places of interest which was not very far from each other.

This is a small visitor center, but the resources are great. In addition to brochures they will map out a walking or driving route for you. They also have special offers. For example they gave us a free parking pass for the length of our visit and told us where we could use it. There was also a discount offer for the Lincoln Museum and Train Station.

Definitely stop here when starting your visit in Springfield. Staff is friendly and very helpful. If you know what you want to do, ask for discount tickets. We got a large discount for the Lincoln Museum. They also offer free parking so ask for that also.

This was our first stop, thinking this is where we buy tickets for the Lincoln home tour. I'm glad we stopped here for sure. They are very helpful and friendly. This city REALLY caters to the tourists and are set up with maps, free parking passes, tour information, and a wealth of knowledge. They take time with each visitor to explain the best attractions, suggest a sequence. There is so much to see in this pleasant city. It was great.
This visitors bureau is absolutely the best! Go here first.
