I read and write lots of funny, adventurous, & heartwarming books for kids, tweens, and teens (and even a few romantic comedies for adults, too!). I always love book recommendations, so please send them my way. I'm partial to contemporary romantic comedy, funny/original voices, quirky characters, and kids' books with humor and heart.

The first book in my new series - THE GREAT PEACH EXPERIMENT: When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Peach Pie - is a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection and is available in stores now!

When evil empress, Geela, invaded the home planets of Pentangle, she kidnapped the
parents of Athena, Rhea, Hera, Luna, and Juno. Despite being from different planets, the
five decide to band together to stop Geela. They form the group, SpacePop, a girl band
that sings about the rebel message of freedom and resistance through music. Recruited as
secret agent, the five go undercover to fuel the rebellion. Will their identities remain a
secret?

The characters in this book are true to the ones on the Youtube SpacePop girls episodes.
They are adorable, easy to relate to, and draw the reader into the story. The plot is
engaging and full of action and adventure. The included graphic novel
formatted scenes adds depth and character to the novel. Fans of the Youtube show,
science fiction, and adventure will enjoy reading this book.

This was an absolute shocker - apparently the first in a series, with cardboard characters and every now and then for no reason at all the prose turned into comic book style for a few pages. Tries to be hip and cool but is actually dull and dreary, despite the bright colours and frenetic stylings. Ultimately too dull to be interesting.

SPACEPOP is OK, but it's no great shakes. The difficulty with any story featuring music is that there is no actual music to be heard. One of the song's lyrics are atrociously bad. But whether that was meant as comical effect or meant to be taken seriously is unknown.

The story is very basic and while it moves along fairly easily this was one of those times when it was difficult to suspend my disbelief at just how fast a lot of the plot was moving.

This book is *very* different from other novels I have written, but I had a BLAST writing it. I really fell in love with the characters and world. So happy I had the chance to create the origin story for this exciting new brand.
