An unforeseen future nestled somewhere in time.
Unsuspecting victims no warnings, no signs.
Judgment day the second coming arrives.
Before you see the light you must die.
Forgotten children, conform a new faith,
Avidity and lust controlled by hate.
[The] Never ending search for your shattered sanity,
Souls of Damnation in their own reality.
Chaos rampant,
An age of distrust.
Confrontations.
Impulsive habitat.
Bastard sons beget your cunting daughters,
Promiscuous mothers with your incestuous fathers.
Engreat souls condemned for all eternity,
Sustained by immoral observance a domineering deity.
Chaos rampant,
An age of distrust.
Confrontations.
Impulsive sabbath.
On and on, south of heaven
On and on, south of heaven
On and on, south of heaven
On and on, south of heaven
The root of all evil is the heart of a black soul.
A force that has lived all eternity.
A never ending search for a truth never told.
The loss of all hope and your dignity.
Chaos rampant,
An age of distrust.
Confrontations.
Impulsive habitat.
On and on, south of heaven
On and on, south of heaven
On and on, south of heaven
On and on, south of heaven

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
I Can't Go To Sleep

Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
Tom Arraya is a lyrical genious. While everyone is thinking this song is about hell, It is clearly about the demoralization of America and the darker side of human existence. Domineering Deity is the Media, and The Immoral Obeservance is the public feeding into the lust and sex that the media has portrayed for people. The "forgotten children" are the generation of youth that can only look up to their "promiscuous mothers and incestuous fathers". The third verse refers to a society that has lost all moral believes and has corroded into hatred. On and On South of Heaven is referring to a society (USA) that has fallen to humanities darker yearnings. Slayer rules.
good reading :)
i totally agree - f**king genius lyrically, some of the sickest lyrics ever- matched with the hardest grooving thrash ever...
@ktaps13 Totally agree and i dont belive he was just writing about America but the whole world, the modern western ways injected with posion of media got to us all. Yet Arraya still mentions the second coming and the day of judgment... goes on saying "before you see the light you must die" the self-centeredness, pride, malice, arrogance it all must die, in the holy scriptures they say Christ is the only one who can redem us and change our lives if he was truly the one he claimed to be. The lyrics later in the song go (after a solo pause); " the root of all evil is the heart of a black soul, a force that has lived for all eternity. Implying clearly that Satan and his fallen angels exist as a force in the world that inflicts and influences humanity through weak-broken,tormented and evil men.
Ok, I like this type of Music, but it doesn't mean I am a goth. And also, out of all those bands/artists you stated, i like all of them, except linkin park. You can't judge everyone here as a goth, just because they like slayer. Most of us probably have a broad taste in music, and listen to it because it sounds good, not because we agree with the beliefs of the band.
metal_advocate u fuckin cunt! who the fuck are you to come into a slayer post and call us goths (which im not, goths are fucking freaks!) and start badmouthing the music of slayer. how the fuck can you say the riffs and solo are shit when u listen to faggot ass linkin park and sytem u ass licking cunt
EAT SHIT AND DIE YOU PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT! I WILL RAPE YOUR MOTHER AND EAT HE DISMEMBERED CORPSE! HOWS THAT FOR FUCKED UP IN THE HEAD U CUNT
I believe this song is an exaggeration of the immoral and ethically bankrupt society we live in. It is not about an apocalypse that is coming but one that is already here.
slayer is not goth
Modest Mouse did a cover of this, Modest Mouse regulates.
great song
yea it is a trend. go get your fucking marylin manson you weirdo
What is really a trend, is the "goth" posers who shop in HotTopic and are mostly teenagers who want to be 'different', not the real definition of goths. Marilyn Manson is a good example or the music a poser listens to anyway.
I think this is quite a clever song. It seems to me, to be about how wayward mankind has gone, and how we (as a species) are blind to our own failings, and to how far we have fallen, from grace.
I think the biggest clue, is the title;, 'South of Heaven', while refering just as easily to the earth as it does to hell, also suggests the ever-decreasing distance between the two.
Basically, we are 'south of heaven', and still heading south...
