Grow Old with Me Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
[Refrain]
God bless our love
God bless our love
[Verse 2]
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting Sun
When the day is done
[Refrain]
God bless our love
God bless our love
[Bridge]
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
[Refrain]
God bless our love
God bless our love
[Verse 2]
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting Sun
When the day is done
[Refrain]
God bless our love
God bless our love
[Bridge]
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
[Verse 3]
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
[Refrain]
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
[Refrain]
God bless our love
God bless our love
About
Genius Annotation
The penultimate track on John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s collaborative posthumous album is a simple love song. Featuring simple themes of religion, nature, and most strongly, romance, “Grow Old With Me” is certainly a cute song to enjoy.
This song was one considered for The Beatles‘ “reunion”, however, it was decided it would take too much work to get it up to standard. Later, Yoko Ono commissioned an orchestral version by George Martin that was featured in the 1998 John Lennon Anthology collection.
It was notably covered by Ringo Starr for his 2019 album What’s My Name with Paul McCartney’s assistance.
