The hotel is a unique experience. Situated by the fiord and very special architecture and building materials. Fits completely into the surroundings. Warm welcome to the hotel by nice staff ! Breakfast good, but dinner was very simple at a high price ! One piece of fried salmon with some boiled carrots and small (hard) potato wedges at a cost of almost NOK 300 ! Very bad experience compared to the hotel itself. The meatballs fall in the same category - with an exception for the cranberries 😜. Please make better food - we are not expecting any Michelin star food, but it should at least be comparable to some home cooked meal. Otherwise the extremely special hotel experience will fast be forgotten !
This hotel is one of a kind. "Everything" seems to be asymetrical and the level of details in the hotel is incredible. The room we had was clean, but it could have been better (no cleaning under the beds for example). Also I would have liked to see more food options at dinner and breakfast, but the food itself was excelent. The staff was service minded and very friendly. The location is unbeatable...simply amazing!
The hotel has a fantastic location. The design is sort of fake log cabin style, but it is nicely done and our room was clean with a nice modern bathroom. Very friendly young staff also. The view over the water is incredible.
Brekkestranda wasn’t the fanciest place I stayed in Norway, but it certainly had the most wonderful sunset view. We were there in June, and the sunset lasted for hours. Brilliantly located on the fjord, we were able to see it for miles. There’s a great outdoor space for enjoying nature’s beauty. I stayed here to break up the drive from Alesund to Bergen into two days. The service was excellent (Konstantine rocks!), and we devoured a late dinner, thrilled to discover their kitchen was still open after a long day of driving. After our wonderful dinner, we were disappointed that breakfast was so basic. The dining room was lovely, with a wall of windows providing a great outlook onto the fjord. The room itself has a rustic feel, perhaps a little too rustic for my tastes. The wall unit heaters could use updating, and the bathroom is in desperate need of a complete renovation. The rock floor was rough and didn’t really dry after our showers. I was also wary of the bathroom heater, which definitely warmed the room, but seemed too exposed. One note about booking a night here… we had to track down an alternate e-mail address from their Facebook page after queries to the one listed on their website went unanswered. Overall, this place has a great location. It just requires some maintenance and upkeep to reach its potential.…
Yes. it is cozy and yes, it's charming, but it1s in need for some upgrades. Very few alternatives (3) on the menu and very small portions. Peanuts and coke filled us up after dinner. The staff was and helpful and did their best.
Poorly cleaned rooms. Wifi only works in the dinner-area though the staff says otherwise. Food is served way too late after agreed time. We are a group of 14 workers who lives here all alone. Would have understood it if it was crowded. The staff really need’s to learn english. A coworker asked for a waterboiler/needed something to boil water so he could have a cup of tea. He recieved a cup of warm water.. How is that even possible?
This is a haven of peace and quiet... but it's very quirky and wouldn't be everyone's idea of a good hotel. Its turfed roofs blend in with the countryside and it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere... and beside the Sognefjord. Nothing to complain about in the scenery and setting. The rooms are definitely on the quirky side... pretend log cabin style, but the "logs" are split pine hammered on as an after thought. The bathroom is basic, and we didn't try the shower because it didn't look up to much. The beds were very comfortable, and an added bonus was that we could walk out to our own private terrace area, and from there straight down to the fjord about ten metres away. The food was not really up to much at all... half of the items on the menu were not available... we were told that this was a "new" menu and had been printed before all the food had been ordered. Seemed a bit inconceivable. We ate indoors, and were not offered a seat on the outdoor terrace, even at breakfast which was very sunny. This was odd, as it looked rather pleasant. I've given it 4 points just because it is very very peaceful, otherwise it would probably have been a 3.…
this is a turf roofed wooden hotel commanding superb views of the fjord. The rooms look over the fjord and have a small balcony. There is plenty of outside tables and seating in the bar/restaurant area. The staff were enthusiastic and friendly. It is unique.
Brekkestranda Fjord Hotel is the place to stop, stay and eat if you are visiting this area. A pearl of a place, situated on the banks of Norway's longest fjord. The hotel is built in a unique style and is quaint, charming and hospitable. Family run, good food and a relaxed atmosphere makes this the perfect place for a meal, weekend or longer holiday.
Spent one night at the hotel. The dinner at the restaurant was pretty basic, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel looks amazing with it's green grass roofs and the beds were very comfortable. I loved the stone floor in the bathroom!
