Amazon.com: Slackers: Jason Segal, Jason Schwartzman, Jaime King, Devon Sawa, Dewey Nicks: Movies & TV
An outrageous, sexy comedy from the producers of I Know What You Did Last Summer, SLACKERS stars breakout talents Devon Sawa (Idle Hands, Final Destination), Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore), Jaime King (Pearl Harbor) and Laura Prepon (TV's That '70s Show). Crafty roommates Dave, Sam and Jeff are happily scheming their way through college. But when super-nerdy Ethan spots Dave stealing test questions, he threatens to turn them in—unless they hatch a plan to hook him up with beautiful Angela, the object of Ethan's unhealthy obsession. The guys take on the challenge, but when Dave and Angela start to fall in love instead, all bets are off. And that's when Ethan's antics turn hilariously psychotic.

It's about three friends who cheat their way through everything and get blackmailed by a freak named Ethan (Shwartsman). He wants them to get him a girl that he is creepily obsessed with but she is totally out of his league. Dan ends up falling for her and Ethan videotapes them together and tries to win the girl back, but eventually we all know what happens. Just watch it, it's worth a few bucks to rent. It's not the best movie I've ever seen, but the ideas they used to cheat were really clever and funny. I've never been a cheater, but if I was I'd use some of the tactics they used here.
Definitely a “problematic” movie in every sense of the word. Like revenge or the nerds or American pie.
However if you can accept that entertainment is entertainment and turn your brain off for an hour this movie is hilarious. A lot of funny one off jokes and gross out humor. A few actors are in this before they got big like Jason Schwartzman and Laura Prepon. Overall same tone as something like saving Silverman or idle hands. Fun movie.
Not just another college movie. This movie is just strange enough to stand out from the rest and still make you laugh. I fell in love with this movie in high school and it still makes me laugh now. P.S. you can't go wrong with Jason Segel (HIMYM, Undeclared, SLC Punk, Dead Man on Campus, I Love You, Man etc.)

If you are looking for a funny movie and don't feel like taking yourself too seriously, then this is the movie for you! Silly college humor mixed with Jason Schwartzman's hilariouis character "Cool Ethan" has me rolling every time! This in is no way in an Academy Award winning piece, just a laughable colletion of pranks and grossouts. I suggest watching it with a group of fun friends and lots of beer!
3.0 out of 5 starsnot as bad as people would have you believe.

the first time i watched this film i thought it was okay, but i watched it again and enjoyed it a lot more the 2nd time round. it is different to other films of the same genre. what sets it apart is it's rather quirky sense of humour that admittedly won't be to everyones taste. there are some highly amusing moments mainly delivered by Schwartzman who plays the stalker nerd character excellently. jamie king is always solid, but isn't really given much of a role. devon sawa is a little disappointing as the lead, and not as good as he is in idle hands, while segel too, isn't really given enough quality dialogue to do anything with. on the whole the film is okay and worth a punt if you fancy something a bit different to the normal team film.

[...] In a way it's a different animal to the american pie franchise, slackers is more surreal. The basic premise of the film is a group of guys cheating their way through college using innovative ways, but alas, they get found-out and held to ransom buy the geek on campus. Either the gang hook him up with the target of his affection, or he will get them kicked out of school. The plot is a bit thin on the ground, but hey if your into these films your not really hooked up on 'plot', what you want is cheap laughs and this has plenty of them all served up in a well directed, well characterised and very off the wall comedy.

I love comedies, got all American Pie, Van Wilder and tonnes of others. But I can only say that this is complete and utter crap. Don't waste your time or money on this.
