Billie Eilish – Six Feet Under Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

Six Feet Under Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Help, I lost myself again
But I remember you
Don't come back, it won't end well
But I wish you'd tell me to

[Chorus]
Our love is six feet under
I can't help but wonder
If our grave was watered by the rain
Would roses bloom?
Could roses bloom again?

[Verse 2]
Retrace my lips, erase your touch
It's all too much for me
Blow away like smoke in air
How can you die carelessly?

[Chorus]
Our love is six feet under
I can't help but wonder
If our grave was watered by the rain
Would roses bloom?
Could roses bloom?

[Bridge]
They're playin' our sound
Layin' us down tonight
And all of these clouds
Crying us back to life
But you're cold as a knife

[Chorus]
Six feet under
I can't help but wonder
If our grave was watered by the rain
Bloom, bloom again

[Outro]
Help, I lost myself again
But I remember you

About

Genius Annotation

“Six Feet Under” is the third track released by LA based singer/songwriter Billie Eilish. Six months later, an EP of remixes was also released.

On this track, Billie sings about not fully recovering from a heartbreak. She misses her ex, but knows that they are no good for her. However, a part of her mind wants to know if the relationship can be somehow rekindled by a miracle.

“Six feet under” is a term used in reference to someone or something that has died. And in this case Billie is referencing a past romance. And despite the demise of the romance, she is still unable to get over her ex. In fact even when she loses touch with herself, she still remembers him. As such, she wonders if the love, with the right kind of nourishment, can be rekindled. However, she acknowledges that if such an attempt were made, it probably wouldn’t “end well”. Indeed she even describes her ex-flame as now being “cold as a knife”. However, at the end of the day, she can’t help but to question if somehow, someway this romance would “bloom again”.

The track was also used in the 2019 teaser trailer for American Horror Story: 1984.

What did Billie Eilish say about "Six Feet Under"?
Genius Answer

Billie:

I’m young and I’ve been through stuff, and I’m sure I haven’t been through the amount of stuff as someone much older than me. But, you know, everyone goes through it, and I think a lot of people don’t really have a way of getting out their feelings. What’s so great about being an artist is that I can just take all of the anger and all of the longing and despair, and I can just write it down and sing it. My brother goes through a lot of the same things I do, even though we’re four years apart, we still have like the same kind of mindset.
I feel like a lot of songs right now–the lyrics are just so boring. It’s about the same thing. You can say that in a different way that’ll make it way more interesting and way deeper, more meaningful. So I always try to write in a way that I never heard before.

Who is the male voice singing with Billie in the bridge of the song?
Genius Answer
