Statement by the spokesman
of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Australia
Viet Nam has issued many legal documents regulating the slaughtering process of livestock. To ensure the welfare of animals, the Government has set out various standards for transportation, abattoir conditions, humane slaughtering process.... In fact, livestock slaughtering establishments are under strict monitor of Veterinary Departments and agencies concerned.
As for live cattle imported from Australia, approved abattoirs in Viet Nam have been operating fully in compliance with Australian Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System, as it is beneficial not only for Vietnamese consumers but also for Australian farmers.
Regarding reports in some of Australian newspapers, the Embassy has forwarded them to relevant authorities in Viet Nam for clarification, and believes that proper actions would be taken if it is a case.

From 5-6/8/2014 - On the official visit to Western Australia, Ambassador of Viet Nam paid courtesy calls on the Hon Wayne Martin AC, Administrator of the State of WA and the Hon Dr Kim Hames MLA, Deputy Premier of WA.

From 21-22/7/2014 - On the official visit to Victoria, Ambassador of Viet Nam paid courtesy calls on H.E. Alex Chernov AC QC, Governor of Victoria and the Hon Louise Asher MP, Minister for Innovation, Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Minister for Employment and Trade representing the Premier of Victoria.

05/6/2014- Ambassador of Viet Nam made a courtesy call on the Hon. Julie Bishop MP, Foreign Minister of Australia

28/5/2014- Ambassador of Viet Nam paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Bronwyn Bishop MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia at the Parliament House

From 6-7/05/2014 - On the official visit to New South Wales, Ambassador of Viet Nam paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Professor, the Hon. Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales; had meetings with the Hon. Victor Dominello MP, Minister for Citizenship and Communities-representing the Premier; the Hon. Don Harwin MLC, President of the Legislative Council; the Hon. Shelly Hancock MP, Speaker of Legislative Assembly; and other important officials of NSW.

From 1-3/05/2014- Ambassador of Viet Nam visited Western Australia together with around 80 Ambassadors and High Commissioners at the invitation of Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

18/4/2014- Ambassador of Viet Nam attended the annual MOVSA Gala at Deakin Edge, Melbourne and presented Award Certificates to the Melbourne Overseas Vietnamese Student Association and Miss Dang Thi Huong

26/3/2014- Ambassador of Viet Nam paid a courtesy call on Senator the Hon John Hogg, President of the Senate of Australia at the Parliament House

27/02/2014- New Ambassador of Viet Nam to Australia Presents His Credentials
On 27 February 2014, H.E. Mr Luong Thanh Nghi presented to Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Letters of Credence from H.E. Mr Truong Tan Sang, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The ceremony was held at the Government House, Canberra, the official residence of the Governor-General of Australia. Accompanying H.E. Mr Luong Thanh Nghi was his wife, Mrs Nguyen Thi Thu Hong and officials from the Embassy of Viet Nam.
