GERMAN APPLE PIE

� lb SR flour - plain flour may be better
� lb sugar
2 oz butter
1 egg

Mix pastry, using a little water if necessary, and leave for 30 minutes.

Line pie dish with 2/3 of the pastry rolled thin. Fill with stewed apples and cover with the remaining pastry.

Bake in a moderate oven for 10 minutes and then turn down the oven to moderately cool for a further 20 minutes.

While still warm, cover with almond flavoured icing.
