We had a staff that keeps checking on us to see if we need anything or if the food was bad. He was such a nice and cheerful guy. Overall ambience was great and food was better. If you're looking to splurge on a meal...for an occasion and more importantly, looking for halal options, this would be the place to visit. Location wise is accessible by car or taxi with just a 1min walk from the drop off, but walking in will be about 10-15mins. Do not recommend to walk from MRT to this place.More

It was our 1st wedding anniversary and with the covid-19 situation, it was hard to adapt to a new normal. So, the first thing that popped into our heads were the Restaurants that we visited before. So Halia was at the top of our list...because I could still remember the crazy delicious barramundi we had previously. We were prepared to go through hoops since the phase 2 guidelines would affect all restaurants and eateries, but the experience we had was near to seamless. Other than not being able to converse with the wait staff and the standard temperature taking procedures, the process got a tad more convenient. On the dining table, they’ve placed a standee with guided steps on how to order and pay for your food. Using my phone, I was able to just scan the QR code that would link me to the online ordering platform. I can choose to have some of my main course items and my desserts on hold until the rest of my family members were ready for the serving. Though almost the entire restaurant was celebrating their birthdays and anniversaries (for sure they would be celebrating belated birthdays ;p because the staff were singing happy birthday songs to almost every table there was that evening) the wait of the food took a while, but Chan and Duqi were nice enough to explain to us that they were still beta testing the flow. Other than that, we were more than satisfied with how the evening turned out. They added some local delights to the menu and I would recommend you try as the portions were fit for a family’s share! Kudos team Halia!More

At the reservation was smooth but I believe it would be best that there is a catered line or seating place while waiting for our turn to get a seat. The place is divided into two section air conditioned and nature feel ambience. We chose...to sit outside. The chair with the armrest is nice but because our table is pushed at the side of the stone wall there is black ants roaming around in search of foods. As we don’t have other choices since it’s the only table of two left. Water is being served with a brass cup for refreshment while ordering is done via the app. The app need a lot of simplification. I was thinking whether need to make payment via an external app after scanning the QR code at the menu mini display on the table. The ordering took a while but the food served so quick like it was just microwaved. We ordered a starter which was good, A salad with prawn and Thai sauce. We get the lychee drink with thyme. The drink is nice BUT please provide a glass cup for presentation. It look like I was drinking from an IKEA children cup. The presentation was nice but do something about the cup even it was meant to have one lychee and a small fragment of thyme on top of it. Then we have two main course, one is the beef steak on a big bruschetta which my friend response was salty enough that he couldn’t finish it and mine was the smoked salmon. The smoked Salmon was the only dish that leaves me in awe as how amazing the chef was to make a simply delicious salmon trip with crisp of croutons and salad at the bottom base with poached egg dripping down like a waterfall flowing. Simply Georgeous. We have our mains as the mushroom. Another takeaway that is good and fits very well with the dishes. We didn’t order dessert because we have to call it a day. As we are paying GST and SVC I can say that overall dining experience at Halia was ok but given I’m paying the full price like a hotel buffet/fine dining restaurant and the food looks like it was microwaved I don’t think it was worth the money. There might be a better gems 💎 other places than here.More

Place looks nice, setting etc. However, once I stepped afoot when slowly downhill from there. Had a reservation, waited at the front desk for someone to speak to us about a table, stood there about 5 minutes plus, your employees could see us but didn’t...bother asking us to hold on, I didn’t know what I was waiting for. Got to our table, place is nice, there is aircon. Ordered our food, and our food did not bring worth to the amount I paid. Requested for condiments, Chili sauce , salt and pepper and I was pretty disappointed it came in sauce packets. I mean this is fine dining right? Despite covid issues, there should be a better alternative. Truffle fries was at $18 but taste truffle hints were minimal, might as well ordered normal fries. Wagyu striploin that I ordered taste rather boring for it to be labeled wagyu, tasted bland. My salmon was not bad, only thing I enjoyed most of out everything. If you ask me, I just came for the experience and the hype with it being halal and supposedly an upscale establishment. Rather disappointed. Intended to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday but I had to plan another one cos this just ain’t it. Won’t come again.More

Value for money poor. Imagine dining in a nice ambience and loving the vibes alas the drinks served came in plastic canteen glasses (one prior review said the same thing). The mains were not proportionate to the pricing with literally no accompaniments. Overheard another customer...expressing her disappointment as they were waiting for over 40 minutes for their food to be served too. It’s not about the money. I urge the management to rethink their offerings and at the same time improve their services.More

The ambience was great, but was surprised that the food quality was so-so average - for the hefty price we were paying. Any low-end ordinary cafe or even hawker centre would have served better tasting food. Most disappointing of all was the subpar service. Obviously,...the management has neglected this critical area, terribly! Very inattentive waiters, who were quite rude in the way he took our orders. When one of us placed an order and he could not hear well, instead of gently asking whether we could repeat the order, he answered with a loud "WHAT???" This happened not once, but twice. And when I requested for a dinner spoon (which happened to be missing), the request was unheeded, and I had to go to the counter to help myself to the spoon. During dessert, I requested for a couple of teaspoons. The same waiter who took our order did not say anything to indicate that he was attending to my request, and I half wondered whether I again had to help myself. But shortly after, he appeared with 2 teaspoons. I muttered a gentle "Thank You". But he said nothing. He just walked off. No smiles, no "My pleasure", no "You are welcome". Let me state on the record that I am NOT a fussy and unreasonable diner. I always go out of the way to thank people who treat me well. I always give credit where credit is due. Even at hawker centres, I thank the cleaners profusely, and they would often reply with a smile. But Halia? It was my first time dining at Halia. It will also be my last, sadly.More

Went to Halia to celebrate my anniversary. I was disappointed with the quality of the food. For the price I paid and for the location of the restaurant to be in such a beautiful garden, it’s a pity that the food was average. My partner...got the chilli crab pasta (that was good) and I got the salmon dish which tasted like it was overly seasoned with salt on the skin side. The couscous that came with the salmon dish was too sour and does not go with the dish overall in my opinion. What made me utterly disappointed were the drinks. Both our drinks, the iced mocha were served in small plastic cups like the kind you can get from school canteens. The drinks were below average, 3-in-1 sachets would have made better drinks. Again for the kind of restaurant that halia is, at least serve your drinks in glass cups and make it worth what your customers paid. Thanks.More

Excited to order the Striploin which costs $62 but sadly presented with a piece of beef and sauteed veg looks like spinach. Ordered fries and it literally came a basket of fries with no dip or sauce. Not worth the price at all.

Positives: Menu had been changed, so expectations were high! Negatives: New Menu had very limited dishes. Food ordered left a lot to be desired. Cheese platter was a few small pieces of tasteless morsels put together. This was accompanied with a basket of crackers. But...what to eat the crackers with??? Tasteless morsels of, so called, cheese??? The Octopus starter, that was delicious during earlier visits, was tasteless & loaded with sauce to give the dish some sort of taste. A total waste of Octopus meat. Lamb on the shank, the supposedly "show stopper", was tasteless and just a chunk of meat on the bone, that we could not eat. If we had to boil some meat we could have done it at home. The only edible item on the table was the "Truffle Fries" & nothing else. I truly regret leaving such a review, but above is an honest review, and there was not even an apology from the restaurant. Bottom line: Never again! Until....... Change your chef & get your old chef back or change your management & get your old management back or, else, risk losing your regular customers.More

Upon reservation, there’s a “Note” filed to indicate if there’s any occasion, I’ve indicated “birthday and anniversary” but it was acknowledged on the special occasion. Upon reaching there, the lady seated at the front desk didn’t gave us a warm welcome. Not very informative on...the online menu. No recommendations. Overall food was okay but service was bad and totally not worth the 10% service charge with this type of customer service. This will be my one off experience. Below expectations of fine dining.More

Have passed this restaurant often during my hikes in Botanical Garden and finally stepped foot to try their food by arranging our yearly 1 Jan gathering there when my friend returns from Melbourne for CNY. Love the ambience in natural settings and most of the...food incorporate the element of ginger which is named Halia in Malay. The soy and ginger broth add flavour to the otherwise plain fillet in paperbag. The wagyu beef is fattily tasty and the portion is good enough for sharing leaving space in stomach for desserts. Must try the die die for chocolates if you are chocolates diehard fan as the sweetness in the chocolates is balanced with the tinge of raspberry sourness and cooling sorbet. As for beverages, can go for hot ginger with cumin and cinnamon or ice ginger blend with orange and honey or refreshing ginger with mint, lime and blueberry. For better savings go on Mon-Thu instead of weekend as set lunch is available and chope discounted vouchers can also be used. Enjoy and Live to Eat!More

Went to this restaurant for first time after reading raving reviews with my Gf. Both of us ordered Margaret River wagyu striploin 250gm for mains and French fries for sides. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium whereas my Gf asked for medium...well. This is our 1st time trying out Wagyu and just wanted to check out what is the fuss all about. To me frankly, it tasted just like any other steak. I didn't see any marbling on this Wagyu steak. My friends told me the best wagyus are from Japan not these ones from Australia. Total came up to SGD170. I don't think I will come back again to this restaurant as I find it overrated. Maybe you may come to this restaurant for an special occasion.More

Amazing location. They held our reservation even though we were a half hour late, on the condition we stayed for 1 hour which was plenty of enough time. The hostess at the front was very friendly and let me charge my phone so that I...could show my vaccination check. Instantly gave us cold water in a sustainable copper bottle - much much appreciated. The front hostess gave us my bottle which I left outside thank you very much to you maam. Ordered the usual Spaghetti Chilli Crab I usually get, and the Laksa. The Crab pasta was lovely as always and had generous amounts of real crab meat, portion was just right. The prawn in the laksa was clearly not fresh which was easy to tell, but was made up for by the two clams and the delicious soup which was clearly made by a chef and had the perfect Laksa aroma and flavour. When it came to pay had to wait awhile for someone to attend to us, and so the poor bartender lady making the drinks who was rushing had to quickly make our transaction, props to her for holding down the fort. She helped us out even as she was very busy. Dirty glassware scattered everywhere around the paying area.. is dishwasher broken? Overall great experience as always. Thank You! Will definitely visit again.More
