My friend booked us here for NYE and I about fainted at the price of $250 USD but it was well worth it. The only down side is you are almost “above” the fire works. Considering how expensive alcohol is in Singapore the open bar...and non stop flowing champagne one quickly recoups the $250. There was stacks of lobster, jumbo shrimp, crab for starters so come hungry. Also the restaurant stops serving at 10 pm and you want to be in queue at 9 (doors open at 1030) to get the best seat. Just know that everyone pushes to get on the balcony when the fire works starts. We were sitting outside on the balcony/patio it was non stop keeping people from taking your seat, table or trying to stand on top of you. The later it gets the rougher it gets as people start to get drunk. I think we danced until 3 am. Was a blast.More

Honestly, the service was the thing that made up for the experience we had. The food was o-kayyyy/meh and it wasn’t as good as expected, the shrimp cocktail we ordered were not that fresh, and the 20 layered cake was a bit too gelat, but...nevertheless the service was WONDERFUL, Lalo, and the other waiters who served us were very really friendly and courteous, which made up for the overpriced meh food. The ambience was great as well and we enjoyed our time there. But if you are looking for food that’s worth your money, maybe you should head elsewhere.More

We were overnighting in Singapore on a cruise ship and wanted to eat someplace special. Rooftop dining at LAVO is that something special. We started with cocktails outside while waiting for our dinner reservation. A martini and a Gin and Tonic was 49 Singaporean dollars...before the 10% service charge and the 7% GST. For dinner we shared oysters on the half shell and a very large seafood plateau and a very nice bottle of wine. Our sides were beet salad and risotto Milanese. We also each had dessert and coffee. It was expensive but we enjoyed this special evening.More

The worst experience I had for an « Italian «  restaurant First of all, despite all the advertising the name and the menu, this is not an Italian restaurant at all That’s the first confusion they play with, they named themselves Italian cuisine but they aren’t...at all. We are staying at the Marina bay sand where the restaurant is located in the rooftop. We made a reservation and they kindly ask us to be dressed.... You are just expecting to have an exceptional dinner when we give you some dress guidance However once there, we find people not really dressed as they was suggesting. Some was wearing half pants and tee shirt etc But... it’s not really the big issue here The big issue is when you order meals with Italian very strict named specialities such eggplant parmigiana, you expect to get it. What do you did ordered it’s a millefeuille of eggplant slices boiled and compressed with a smell of parmigiana on top and a slice of mozzarella , all of these combination is an insult to the Italian cuisine , this meal is literally swimming in a tomato sauce with the highest acidity you can experience. Welcome this is an eggplant parmigiana. Second plate, we ordered a chicken parmigiana, and of course, some punition some sauce some process A chicken scallop fried on bread and then swimming in the famous tomato sauce with a heavy mozzarella topping covering all . Taste, visual and smell was really an horrible experience especially when you are hungry. Last but not least , the ones Other plate that I consider very close to the Italian cuisine was the penne with mushrooms and cream sauce They just forgot the muscade and pepper , but was still ok despite the pasta was cold and the sauce hot. Don’t talk about the mojito we order and come with lemon green slices confit, make the taste really bad. Of course we did paid all the bill and we did refuse any discount or anything else , we do not want them to feel things with different mindsets , our remarks was clearly and absolutely trues So this is an American restaurant playing on the Italian food marketing recognition and simply horribleness, and you pay a fortune for that !More

Really disappointing experience at Lavo. Stopping at Marina Bay and having an amazing time at the other establishments we had high hopes for our meal. The restaurant is nicely appointed and the menu looks interesting enough. We had a starter of antipasto which was good...but our first warning sign came when our server tried to leave our used cutlery on the table for the mains, instead of giving us clean ones. When our mains arrived, the server asked us if we wanted Parmesan, we said yes and he started grating the cheese, when we asked him to stop as we had enough cheese he told us the cheese was nice and we’d need more so completely ignored our wishes and just carried on. The mains were terrible, a spaghetti carbonara was made incorrectly using cream and not the traditional authentic method of eggs. The gnocchi was bland and uninteresting. When we reported to the staff that the meals were not good nothing was done and the dishes still stayed on the bill. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. There are plenty of great places to eat at MBS and you should avoid Lavo at all costs.More

We went because we were staying at the Marina Bay Sands and had 10% off with Sands club membership - this was a con, gave us points which can be used at another hotel stay but no Sands hotel we’ll use in the foreseeable future....They charged me for Macallan 18 year double ($110) when I ordered Macallan 12 year ($44). Never brought my wife’s eggplant side order. Spicy lobster bisque wasn’t spicy and was the smallest cup of soup I’ve ever seen. Charred octopus was covered with some dry rub which got burnt and tasted like charcoal (okay once scraped off but who puts spices that burn on a grilled item, duh). Bill for 2 (no wine) was $322. The rooftop view is blocked by bar patrons and many seats face inside rather than out. We’ve been to many rooftop restaurants, all over the world, and all had tables next to the windows so every diner had a view rather than behind the bar. You’re paying for the view at these places and don’t expect Michelin star food but even by these standards this place was crap.More

We made a booking for our final meal in Singapore this time at LAVO to enjoy a rooftop treat of Italian cuisine. It begun with the front of house staff telling us to wait to the side for a hostess to be available. Meanwhile several...people came and were seated, until we reminded her that we were still waiting and were seated. The food is so bad that it would be comical if not for the exorbitant price tag. We ordered entree, pizza and two main pastas. It was worse than microwaving a 2 minute noodles and heating a frozen garlic bread. Maybe we could accept the flavourless food and slow service if there was a great view, but even with a reservation we were at an internal table several metres from a window/view. The entire experience is regrettable and we would rather eat at 7-eleven than return to this joke of a restaurant. We will never return and we look forward to passing our reviews onto friends, families and colleagues that want to enjoy a nice meal out in Singapore. There’s endless options in this beautiful city but LAVO is an absolute disgrace and can’t compete with a packet and a kettle!More

MBS felt quite unfriendly as we walked in but saw the reservation desk straight away. Cocktails to start, OK but not a great negroni. Food was nice, huge portions we couldn't eat everything, even had to leave the delicious chips! The thing that annoyed me...(not the restaurant's fault) was that despite paying a huge amount of money for the meal and wine we were not allowed to take pictures of the iconic pool so if that's what you would like to do research a bit better than me and go to ce la vie. Also it was a birthday gift to my husband and although I let the restaurant know in advance they didn't do anything to make it special. Perhaps a lot of customers say its a birthday or anniversary. I guess I needed to have told them I wanted a little cake for him, and paid for that as well! Overall nice but not exceptional or fine food, friendly and helpful staff who left us to make a night of it and not hurry us out, chilled atmosphere and good terrace area with fab view, glad we went and had a lovely night, but wouldn't go back unfortunately. A one off, didn't really get a good vibe from MBS overall, a huge tourist attraction and license to print money!!!More

When i feedback that the chicken was so tough that i can’t really cut it, the waitress changed a knife for me instead! Frankly i...was expecting they changed the dish cos it was really quite bad. Any hawker centre chicken chop wins the chicken by Lavo. My friend’s lobster is overcooked too with the meat sticking to the shell. Both of us didn’t enjoy the meal except the milo bar. Very disappointing service for such a high end and expensive dinner. Unfortunately the service we received during our dinner last night was terrible. The service staff would only come to our table if we waved them over and this at times was very difficult. We...ordered our food and drink together (drink order was two cocktails and one soda water). Our food came before our drinks and I had to ask three times before the drinks arrived. There was no apology. When the food was sent to our table the service staff just randomly placed plates on the table so we had to reach across to get our plates. There was no love or care shown throughout the night. Food was ok but not really worth the price tag. Some positives, I asked for a window table and this request was kindly met. And of course the views from the balcony are worth a picture!More

The dining experience was disappointing right from the beginning. 1. Arrived with managers on the ground chatting amongst themselves, no acknowledgement of guests. Guess what there was none in queue in front of us. Did an awkward wave to indicate we had a reservation and...ready to be seated but got ignored. With this kind of price point seriously I had better service elsewhere. 2. Great plating but seafood were stale. My hubby and my lips literally swelled and itch even though we had no allergies. Ordered a dozen of oysters but some were not fresh. 3. Waitress not attentive. She literally wrote on the notebook but so many items ordered from the beginning or requests did not arrive. When asked again it did not arrive, neither did she follow up. Requested scissors for snow crab legs and it never come. If you are serving crabs, it is basic to leave one per table? Guest from other tables just gave up. Chargrilled octopus, banana pancakes, additional eggs benedict didnt arrive. Our final order of donuts and tea only arrived after we paid for the bill and leaving - we only realised cause it was added to the bill but was not served for the pot of tea. 4. Poor quality control. Fruits, watermelon, pineapple and some berries not ripe. Berries are season but watermelon and pineapples, really? Lavo mini meatballs were not up to standard either. The integrity of meatballs cant even hold up and disintegrated when I place my fork through I cant imagine what about the large meatball. I probably read too much good things about it and have too high expectations. The donuts , zepole were soggy too. Hits: Grana Padano Candied nuts House comb Penne Carbonara Iberico porkchop Omelette Gelato The plating is fantastic, great view but with disappointing table service and food I will not recommend the buffet to anyone at $158++ or $88++(food only). Im sorry but I have had better italian food elsewhere.More

Much hyped, difficult to book, awash with staycationers. It took us months to book this for our corporate anniversary. I wish we hadn't bothered. It was grubby with many surfaces particularly by the restrooms dusty and uncleaned. The tables had glass ring stains on them...The food was uninspiring. The starter of calamari was the best the deepfreeze had to offer. The oysters ok but badly shucked with many shell fragments. The wine list was extensive but the markup was maybe 20-30% higher than other restaurants. Someone has to pay for the view, which was disappointing the CBD was the office blocks we work in. The ocean view was numerous building sites and after dark even the electric trees were not lit up. I ordered chicken Marsala it was sickly sweet and I got a years worth of spinach, the rosemary potatoes were one of the worst thigs I ever tasted it looked like Chinese style braised eggplant and so sweet. My colleagues ordered a pasta which they said was OK. The bone in ribeye they ordered to share was not cooked the outer edges were rare, they ordered Medium Rare, the inner part was blue raw. Service was poor the staff chit chatting in groups, and you had to try really hard to summon them. Grossly below par ad hideously expensive.More

My partner and I was at LAVO for our anniversary on 23 November and it ended with upsetting stomachs for both of us. Though hygiene practices and service are impeccable, the quality of food was a doubt. We had a total of four dishes, comprising...Lobster Bisque and The Meatball (their signature) for our starters, Grilled Salmon and Pistachio Iberico Pork Chop (with trimmings of sauteed wild mushrooms) for our mains. The lobster bisque was flavorful with a strong hint of pepper. The Meatball was so greasy that we couldn't finish it. The Grilled Salmon, though done adequately, was way too salty for us to enjoy. The Iberico Pork Chop was not tender but close to overcooked, plus it was very bland. The sauce was very salty too. A good gesture would be their complimentary dessert for our anniversary, coupled with still generally interesting cocktails which we had.More
