What an an amazing lunch. We chose the short degustation menu of 7 or so course (long is a few more). The innovation and quality of ingredients and skill is on show from first course to the last with no faults in between. We also...chose the standard wine pair (premium on offer too) the matching were exceptional. One of our guests opted for the Temperance (non alcoholic beverages) matched with course was also innovative and delicious. We dined on magnificent tuna, Sea urchin, Marion (amazing) kangaroo and dry aged duck with dessert and little plate cleaners in between. Service was perfectly timed and not pushy and full of simple info… It was a brilliant lunch that will be remembered for a long time. Congratulations to all chefs and staff, just brilliantMore

I had no expectations going into lunch with friends today which made the experience that much more amazing! My friends and I took the Long Trail experience excluding wine pairing (we ordered as we went as not many of us drink a lot). Many of...the courses were unusual and not something I would normally order but every mouthful was an explosion of flavour, and each course was seemingly better than the last. The chefs obviously aren't afraid to try something new or different and boy, do they know their stuff! Our table had a HUGE amount of very demanding dietary requirements but it was no problem. Chef even spent a good 5 minutes or more with my friend to know exactly what she could and couldn't eat. Wow. I have never encountered service like this. The meal was expensive but in no way disappointed. Loved that the chefs brought the dishes to the table themselves, explaining it in great detail... this was a lovely touch. And I can't finish without mentioning the maitre d (I'm not sure if this is his title). He was very attentive and happy to talk through the raison d'etre of the whole restaurant. An experience not to be missed. Thank you Botanic Gardens Restaurant. We will be back!!More

Wonderful food and fully recommend to well heeled foodies. I was, however, very disappointed at the level of noise in the restaurant. This is not the ambience I was expecting for such an expensive fine dining experience and much of the noise was coming from...the open kitchen. I often struggled to hear the wait staff's description of the course and what items on the plate were edible. My other "negative" is how slow the courses were coming out. The website says to expect 3 to 4 hrs but is was 5 and I noticed many patrons were drunk by the end of their evening.More

I eat at dining restaurants frequently. I have found in Australia that for some reason the fine dining restaurants invariably give very small portions, often requiring one to top up with a pizza or a burger after dinner. Restaurant Botanica is no exception. It’s not...a bad meal though some flavours were a little bit questionable and certainly the green ants were an interesting flavour which whilst I’m glad I tried, I may not necessarily want to replicate. Frustratingly our waitress had a very poor command of English and it was virtually impossible to understand her description of our food. The restaurant is very noisy which is unfortunate. We did not have a bad experience overall, but I think restaurants like these really need to understand the cannot send their patrons away hungry after a couple of hundred dollars.More

.Botanic Gardens Restaurant is located in a rotunda in the middle of the Adelaide Botanic Garden. It is quite a special restaurant, with a degustation menu based on seasonal produce. The menu is always changing, expect a surprise. By the way, corkage is $100. Dress...code is smart casual.More

Beautiful fresh flavours, something different in every one of the eight courses. Wish we’d ordered the long trail rather than the short one, not because we left hungry (as others has said) but so we could try even more dishes. Excellent value for money even...if we only consider the food itself. Add in the jaw dropping presentation - creative, colourful, innovative … some may say Insta worthy, we just send texts to the adult children and mentioned how we’re ski’ing - the service, the steak knives (loved them so much we tracked them down to Dog Boy Knives but at $300 per pair, think I’ll just go back to the restaurant and have another meal), the ambience and all the other little touches (the ‘music’ playing in the bathrooms was of birds tweeting!!!), and it was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. Allow the whole afternoon - we were there from 1 until 5, so were most other guests. I would probably prefer slightly less time between courses.More

Had previously enjoyed eating here prior to the renovation. Love the new look of the place, but the matched wines were outrageous with ridiculously tiny pours for the price. Poor unorganised service- we changed waiters about 3 times over the night which is unacceptable at...this price point. Waited 30 min without a drink or a menu. Food was decent, but not good enough to make up for the other issues. There are plenty of other places deserving our custom. Will not return!More

This was our second visit to the restaurant and it amazed us again. We've dined in a lot of hatted/starred restaurants around the world and in Australia and restaurant botanic is one of the best. It's my number one in Australia at the moment. We...were actually a bit nervous to booked for the second time (our first one was in November last year and we had the spring menu) as we didn't think the restaurant could surprise us again. But we were totally wrong, we loved every single dish- the flavours, the presentation, the surprises. The only dish I could pick a fault was the mushroom egg custard dish, it was a bit over-seasoned for us. Service was great, the team is very passionate and innovative about what they bring to the tables. This restaurant is a must visit if you are looking for a fine dining restaurant in Adelaide.More

Just like travel, the journey is more important than the destination, dinner at Restaurant Botanic is exactly that, the experience of 26 courses dinner was more exciting than the food. The presentation of every dish Has botanical theme with many botanical plant and flower components....Sophisticated yet very beautifully presented. Many uncommon ingredients used, so that the taste were sometimes not familiar for our taste buds. All in all very good and tasty, although several starting courses were mostly too sour and some also a bit salty. But the impressive presentation and very good service make up for that, so that the dinner experience was excellent. The price for all that was very reasonable too, considering the efforts and work of the chef and the team behind each dish such sophisticated and complex. Thousand words still cannot describe the dishes created by Justin James and his team of chefs. Just need to try to experience Restaurant Botanic in Adelaide.More

If the Michelin Guide ever made its way to Australia, this restaurant would have at least 2 Stars. Excellent concept and execution. If you’re a gourmet foodie, you’re lucky enough to find a spot, and can afford the AUD 300 per person, this 20+ courses,...4 hours long menu will delight you.More

Hands down this is the best food in Adelaide. Hands down this is the best service in Adelaide!! The fit out is as one would expect from WBL. Intimate and fitting in with location. We are both vegetarian and it was superb with no feeling...of being an inconvenience. The food was amazing, tasty, inventive and skilled. The wine matching was impeccable. A great selection, local and international. Staff were happy, friendly, knowledgeable and across everything. Would love to see their nightly 'steps' statistics!! Head Chef is approachable, polite and he has developed an amazing team and an amazing service style. We loved the little touch of a gifted chef coming out to serve us a dish! It truly is a delight to experience such polish in Adelaide. Cannot wait to return.More

Our experience last night at the Botanic Gardens Restaurant was world class. The food and service were absolutely amazing. We loved every minute of our time there. We took the Long Trail menu with the reserve beverage pairing and sat at our table for almost...5 hours which seemed to go very quickly. We have been fortunate to enjoy many degustation experiences in Adelaide and around the world. This is the first I have given 5 stars to and how lucky are we to have this in Adelaide! Everything was superb - the service, the food, the wine...pairings, the location, the use of local ingredients, the timing and the quantity. What a lovely way to spend an entire afternoon.More

We had the long trail tasting menu and it was wonderful. Every course was a miniature masterpiece and although it didn't 'fill you up' we definitely left feeling satisfied. We have done many other degustation menus in SA and elsewhere and felt this was right...up there with Magill Estate, Hentley Farm, Orana (as was) etc. The seating was very comfortable and the staff very attentive - a lovely experience.More

This recently reopened gem is definitely world class. We have dined at Alinea in Chicago, the Ledbury in London, Eleven Madison in New York and the Botanic deserves to join their illustrious ranks. The quality and provenance of the dishes is reminiscent of the brilliant...Orana restaurant. Ten out of ten for creativity, flavour, freshness and presentation.More
