Paradise!
Jan 2021
Singapore could have been my hometown, as, when my mum was a child, my grandad was offered a job in Singapore, but he declined it. I really love these gardens, they’re very clean and relaxing, while walking in the alleys you feel a positive sensation of peace and relax!

Other entrances to Singapore Botanic Gardens
Jun 2021
I decided to visit the Botanic Gardens using another entrance, namely the Nassim Gate. I alighted from the bus at Bukit Timah Road and walked along Evans Road. The journey there is equally interesting as the destination. There is a field of trees at the start of Evans Road with beautiful yellow and chartreuse leaves.
On the left is the former Eusoff College, the first female residential hall of the University of Malaya in Singapore, opened in 1958.
Almost next to it are three charming black and white bungalows built in 1930s and designed in tropical deco style quite unlike many of the black and white houses in Goodwood Hill, Nassim Road etc. They were built to accommodate faculty members from the University of Malaya in Singapore. Just before Nassim Gate is the colonial-era flats at the junction of Evans and Dalvey Roads. The British colonial government built houses and flats which were ranked across a graded scale (bungalows, houses, terrace houses and flats) for different grades of officers and civil servants.
Beside the Healing Garden is one of the twelve gazetted conservation buildings at Botanic Gardens. This colonial houses was built in 1919 to serve as the residence of the Economic Garden's Field Assistant. However the Economic Garden was annexed for the construction of Raffles College when the house was completed.
The herbs and medicinally plants in the Healing Garden are labelled with their names making the visit a thoroughly educational one. Two other entrances to Healing Garden include Gambir and Gelam Gates.

Needs to be less hot
May 2021 • Family
The place is warm. That might be good for some plants. It was not ideal for us as we found it too war. We perspired as we never had. Plants are nice.

Shout out
Mar 2021 • Family
The wardens and people who work here are strict disciplinarians. We got shouted at for who knows what. We could barely understand them. An expat told us the reason in language we could understand, it was for a silly reason. We know this is Singapore, but shouting like these at visitors should stop.

Beautiful gardens
Jan 2021
Beautiful, expansive gardens with lakes, lots of plants and flowers, and even trails to explore. There are also a few food outlets, scattered throughout. Great place for a picnic or just admiring nature.

New vistas in the Orchid Garden
Apr 2021 • Friends
Heard that there were new additions to the National Orchid Gardens and were really impressed with the brilliant landscaping and the health and beauty of so many new hybrids of orchids. Walking past the Crane Fountain and under the magnificent Golden Shower Arches we made our way to the Secret Ravine and the unusual Tan Hoon Siang Mist House where some varieties of orchids seemed to thrive in the cool mist sprayed on them. The Turn Peng McNiece Bromeliad collection was exceptional in its forms, seldom seen elsewhere. There was a mysterious and exotic element in the orchids and greenery placed amidst stone sculptures reminiscent of Easter Island.
Unfortunately the Sembcorp Cool House was closed.

Must say it was a really hot afternoon and the way back to the Bukit Timah Gate where the MRT is took a good half-hour.

Early morning
Mar 2021
The recommendation is that you come in here early morning. The sweltering heat is not that intense during early hours.

Heat
Mar 2021 • Family
The heat was unbearable. Humidity too. On top of that, staffs with horrible accents shouting at visitors. What is this place?

Beautiful garden right in the heart of the city
Mar 2021
Beautiful garden with lots of different types of trees and plants. Flowers are everywhere, and it's great to see the park goers start coming back. It brings back a sense of normalcy, or life before Covid. Orchid Garden is amazing. Thousands of orchids in full bloom. Plus the restaurants there serve decent food, so you can spend the whole day there without worrying about anything at all.
