After rewatching the Spartacus Tv series on bluray from start to finish I saw Sinbad and the Minotaur for pretty cheap on Dvd on eBay so decided to pick the film up.
Starring Manu Bennett who played my favourite character Crixus the undefeated Gaul from Spartacus.
Bennett was my main reason I gave this film ago.
Sinbad and the Minotaur is pretty poor stuff even though the film had moments I somewhat enjoyed. Some parts were so terrible you couldn't help but laugh.
The performances were lackluster from the whole cast, pretty low rent stuff and the sets just looked cheap.
All became rather boring after the first 40 minutes or so.
On a whole nothing much going for the movie.
German production distributed by the SyFy Channel. It's as bad, or worse, than the channel's own productions. The story shits on Greek mythology.
The plot is completely bollocks. It's worse than that Sinbad adventure from 2010 where Sinbad is a geologist. It's an attack on geography, mythology and history. The actor who plays Sinbad delivers a hammy performance.
Hab mir den eigentlich nur reingezogen weil es Manu Bennett nach seiner Rolle in Spartacus auf meine Liste mit den coolen Jungs geschafft hat.
Er ist eigentlich noch das beste im Film, wenn es darum geht den Sinbad Darzustellen. Bis auf die Friese die ist ziemlich aktuell aber der Mann hat halt einfach Bock.
Sonst ist "Sindbad und der Minotaurus" höchstens auf Niveau einer Folge "Hercules" wenn man Sie denn heutzutage gedreht hätte.
Die Sets sind klein und zweckmäßig ausgestattet während man bei den Klamotten ebenso sparen musste.
Immerhin spritzt an manchen Stellen überraschend viel Blut und die Finale Enthauptung haut gut rein.
Sonst gibt es aber kaum Action, wobei die Schwertkämpfe noch am besten wegkommen.
Der Titelgebene Minotaurus ist…
I don't expect much from these low budget adventure films, just some mindless, campy fun really.
This is not that, it's just mind numbingly boring.
Manu Bennett is completely miscast. He plays Sinbad as a stoic, generic action tank rather than a charming, nimble sailor. None of the other characters are particularly memorable or likeable either.
Noone seemed to have any fun making this film and it translates accordingly.

Fun factoid: Minotaurs are usually half-human. That’s the main difference between them and bulls. But hey, details.
This film is lacking in several places: two of my main gripes are a better script and better actors. Costuming was fine to me, cinematography so-so but the CGI was awful even for today's low budget films.
Where was the Minotaur? It was just a large CGI bull. The end battle with Sinbad and this Bull (Minotaur) was super fast and terrible - not the great battle we would expect from this type of movie.
