To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I was amazed that Sinbad even knew re Greco-Roman mythology let alone that he would battle the fearsome Minotaur on Crete. Forgot that the children of the Minotaur were Cyclopean and bestial. Good film and DVD was in fine shape.
Good fun . I would have giving this an easy 5 star rating if the star Manu Bennett had been made to look Persian in any way , like long hair & charcoal around the eye's & maybe the classic Sinbad Goatee or even a turban. His acting is fine & I could tolerate a Persian adventurer battling a Greek monster. But They missed a golden opportunity to add a great Sinbad adventure to the list by adding more monsters for Sinbad to battle & making him look more Persian. Think of the time it took for Ray Harryhausen to make the monsters come to life in his three Sinbad movie's & even then he always had at least 5 creatures in each of his three Sinbad offerings! With todays special effects & the same actors in this movie it could have easily been a 5 star rating had they just mimicked the Ray Harryhausen Charles Schneer formula!
Getting harder to find Mythology/Sword and Sorcery movies. I searched this because Many Bennett from the Starz Spartacus series is in it. Worth a watch.
This movie has nothing to do with any of the legends or stories about Sinbad. Why, when movie makes produce such things, they can't give the main characters other names - Clyde and the Minotaur - for example, I've never figured out. That said, for a cheesy movie with indifferent special effects and indifferent acting, it wasn't bad. Not a great movie, true, but I can't say I regretted watching it.
It was beyond lame, to the level of Howard the Duck, not worth seeing, and if you do Manu is always cool, and the lead girl is amazingly beautiful, but that is all that is good about this movie!
Pour un film de cette époque , je ne m'attendais pas à avoir un resultat aussi surprenant. Le blu-ray affiche une image somptueuse et bien colorée même si il y a un peu de grains sur certaines séquences mais dans l'ensemble c'est du très bon.
One star. For the horses. They were lovely. Ok the sorceror and his bad boy assistant who liked to eat people were very entertaining. Dont buy this film ..borrow it for a laugh, Mannu did much better as a Gladiator he didnt talk much. The posturing and hammy acting is worth borrowing the dvd. How it was funded is astounding. If the director did those crappy Aussie soaps he must have had some idea how to direct I reckon he was not feeling himself whilst this 'film' was 'created' the love interest is pretty enough And im so glad i saw the review that mentioned the moving eye patch and the chickens. I was screeching with laughter. All in all its pants. The whole thing is pants and the sodding minotaur is really rubbish. The eagle and horses stole the show. And that says it all. Not even Mannu whose shirt 'just fell off ' and posed as if on Austrailias next top model could stop me fast forwarding.
This movie is actually pretty fun and a lot better than other SINBAD films that were made to knock-off PRINCE OF PERSIA. The Minotaur looks pretty good, although it's not half-man/half-bull like from mythology--just a really big bull. While the movie has a more modern look, it has the feel of classic Sinbad films. Sinbad is off on a new adventure, seeking a lost treasure and romancing a pretty princess, both of which are on a hidden maze guarded by a nasty Minotaur. I hope to see this released on DVD in the USA soon.
