Having lived on the Gulf Coast for several years, we were SO happy to discover this little seafood market and restaurant. It’s the next best thing to actually being on the Gulf!! We have ordered steamed shrimp, grouper sandwiches, cod sandwiches, fried shrimp and gumbo...in the handful of times we have been there and it has been excellent! When we called in the steamed shrimp for takeout, it was always ready and delicious. Recently, we ate dinner in the restaurant and I have to say everything was hot, prepared perfectly, delivered to our table promptly and EVERYTHING was delicious! Even the sides were great......we had the cucumber/tomato salad and hush puppies. The portions are very generous and we had no room for dessert. When we want seafood, this is our “go to” place and we live 30 miles away!!!More

If you are in the area of Bardstown, drop everything you are doing. Even if it’s important. Go visit Simply Seafood. They have some of the best gumbo and etouffee you will find anywhere. You’ll be so happy you did.

Passed this place while driving thru Bardstown on Friday, and said we have to return for Sunday dinner. We were happy we did. Now a few things need to mentioned here... 1. Even though this restaurant is considered a sit-down and carry out restaurant, as...well as a market, their seating consists of picnic tables, and carry out containers instead of conventional platewear and silverware. 2. You order your food at the register, pay for it, and pick a seat at the picnic tables. 3. No servers to get you more drinks, condiments, etc. This is done by you. 4. When the food arrives, it is plenty hot and abundant. It has great flavor, especially the ears of corn, as well as the seafood dishes. 5. Cleanup is done by yourself and as a bonus they offer free "moon pies" for dessert. 6. Simply Seafood has two other locations, one in E'town and the other in Paducah. Both will be tried in the foreseeable future. 7. During Lent you might have to wait 45 to 100 minutes for sit down. Suggestions would be to order carryout and eat it in your car or at home. 8. Hours of operation are Thursday thru Saturday 1100am to 800 pm and on Sunday from 1100am to 500pm. 9.Highly recommend this seafood restaurant and market for all your seafood needs including alligator.More

I decided to try their seafood after seeing their name (same name as a local restaurant back home). Surprisingly...the seafood was very good and I'd definitely recommend it if you visit Bardstown.

We were told about this place by our hotel and were pleasantly surprised! It is a small place that has fresh seafood from the gulf. They are only open Thurs. - Sunday. You can get it to take home and cook or order it and...eat it there. We got 1 1/2 dozen boiled shrimp. They were large shrimp and were cooked to perfection. This place is no frills but totally worth going!More

We have been driving past this place every time we visit. Lots of fresh and frozen seafood and a good menu from the kitchen. Fantastic crab cakes, green beans and potato salad. Red skins could have been better with some butter and cut up. Nothing...fancy but good.More
