Normally red color thread is associated with rudraksha mala.

A red thread is supposed to be associated with confidence, prosperity ...

Also a red thread in a mala brings more energy from the beads.

Better to wear in a red thread.

You can use red, black, orange or white colour thread for wearing rudraksha. You can also use silver or gold or copper wire for this purpose.
